Went with the family to Kalahari Indoor Waterpark for one day. The cost if admission was expensive. We were there for 8 hours and rode nearly every ride numerous times. Most lines for each ride only lasted a few minutes except Master Blaster. The wait was nearly 20 minutes each time, but more than worth the wait. The wave pool and lazy river were both nice along with multiple hot tubs including one that is outdoors. Went to the child play area with our kids a few different times and they had fun there too. Also went to the basketball pool and had fun there too. We ate lunch at one of the Kalahari grill/eateries next to the water park. Will go back again, but plan to stay at Kalahari next time versus another location.
Bad choice of stops for this but it was a nice place and lot's to do. It is pricey so check on-line and also go into other places for coupons and discount options. It was crowded and there were some waits for the different rides and slides.
I had a ball playing lazer tag with my family. We also played mini golf and rode a couple of the rides. I would go back tomorrow if i could
So much to do here for everyone. Waterpark is huge and well kept. Service was great price a little high, but for a vacation spot its well worth it. Lots of restaurants around so everyones needs can be met
We wanted to try a new water park in the dells. We stayed of site and bought day passes. The experience was good overall. We did find ourselves bored with the small indoor water park. It was fun, but we spent only about 2 hours there, when we usually spend at least 4 hours in other water parks. This park definitely has a lot for kids, but has much less for adults. We enjoyed ourselves, but didn't feel it was worth the price of the day pass.
I did the pre-check in & was told I'd get a text once the room was ready. It was maybe 10 minutes later. It is February in WI & freezing outside & we hauled our kids to the amusement park for that short wait. Not a huge deal but irritating. The room was nonsmoking but wreaked of smoke & there were butts all over the ground outside on the patio.I have a 4 & 5 year old so we mainly stay in the small kids area. All the kiddie slides have a 100 lb weight limit. We've been to the Wilderness & my husband & I can go on most of the slides with our kids. I'm not a stand on the sidelines & watch kind of mom. I want to have fun with them! Both our children spiked fevers the first night of our 2 night stay. We had to go home. They were both very sick. I asked what our options were for getting reimbursed for night 2. The woman at the desk looked at our booking, called her supervisor & told us we'd pay a $25 cancellation fee for night 2 & be reimbursed the remainder. So, a few days after we got home & nursed our nasty flu bug I called & emailed the Kalahari. Since it was a 'buy one, get one' she said I would not be reimbursed anything for the 2nd night even though on my receipt the nights are itemized & I was told when I checked out that I would be reimbursed.I will never, ever go to the Kalahari again. I have young children with many more years of waterpark trips & the Kalahari has definitely lost my future business & I will do my best to spread the word on my experience.
Stuff to do for every age. Good play area with decent slides for the 3-6 age group, a different area for kids even younger. (Those are my suggested ages, not a rule.) The wave pool was not as intense as others. The flow rider boogie board thing was fun. One annoying thing was the inconsistent enforcement of height requirements. My son was right at 42" by some signs, just barely below by others. We would be allowed on a ride, only to wait in line for the same ride again and then be told at the top he could not ride. We'd later see kids clearly several inches shorter riding the same ride. There are, however, several raft slides an adult can take a kid on.Water temp and air temp was comfortable.
I was exited to stay at the Kalahari when we first booked it was a change for us. With my self and 4 little ones from 1years old-10years old , I was exited for the convenience of one water park, the food, and theme park all next to each other. However when I arrived, we were placed in a room that was quite far from the attractions resulting in long walks. If it was just me no problem but with all 4 kids and just me it was very very overwhelming. On top of that there were some employees that were just not that happy. Maybe they just don't like their job but that is not my fault. But one of the life guards made my 6 year old cry, she is well behaved and he raised his voice to her, not okay. She was not running or anything. There is a way you talk to kids and a way you do not. Another thing is the room was not very clean either. My kid found a toy behind the bedside table. Not ours.. wonder how well they really clean. I feel that we would have had a better time should our room have been in better shape and closer to the actual hotel attractions. Due to the inconvenience we will not be staying at the Kalahari again. We will stick with the Wilderness which is much cleaner, and has more friendly staff. I really wanted to like this place too as the water park it self and the theme park were fun for the kids. And the prices were decent. :( However convenience and staff friendliness means more to me than prices. I would rather pay more to have convenience and staff friendliness, and a clean room .
We looked at the Wilderness & the Kalahari and ultimately chose this one and we do not regret that decision for a minute. We came here just for the day on a Friday. Admission was $39 each for the entire day with in/out privileges. It does NOT include a locker which will cost you $10/day if you don't lose the key AND receipt; else you lose your $10 deposit too. This waterpark is all under one roof which we preferred. If you are looking for peace and quiet you will NOT find it here. There is the constant white noise of running water. Plus even on a Friday there were lots of kids about. But we knew both going in and that did not bother us. On our day the park was not overly busy so we were able to get a raft when needed and use attractions without any wait or feeling crowded. My guess is it gets way more crowded on the weekends. It is kept fairly warm but we would have liked it warmer. We are a couple with no children so rode the lazy river, floated in the wave pool, used the hot tubs and the swim up bar. We also got brave enough to ride two slides that required rafts. We were NOT brave enough to ride any slides that did not require a raft or not meant for families and did not try the Flowrider/surfing ride. The drinks at the bar were more expensive than we expected so we each only had 1 at $10 a piece for about 12 oz of drink. They were good but at $10 a bit pricey. They also offer an enormous size, no idea how many ounces, for $27 with refills for “only” $19. We did not eat at the resort so cannot speak to that though they do have many on site options. You cannot bring in outside food or drink BUT I did notice some folks with refillable plastic bottles, like Nalgene, so I guess they allow those and do have free drinking water fountains. FYI Wisconsinites call those Bubblers. All in all we were happy with our decision to just make a non-weekend day of it and recommend the place as long as you know what you are getting into. If you decide to do more than 1 day, you'll probably want to stay at the resort because the rooms include admission to the waterpark and most likely the cheaper option for multi-day waterpark use.
We went to this daily during our stay over Presidents day weekend. We toggled between this and the Amusement Park. I hear that other hotels have more rooms with water rides but I am unsure if any of them have the amusement park as well. It was great going from the waterpark to the amusement park and kept things changing for the kids. Also, we have 3 kids all under 6 years old. What Kalahari offers in terms of rides was more than sufficient for our group. Great time!
I went this past week on Feb 17-19th 2015 for the first time visiting Wisconsin Dells and it was awesome! It was me, my husband and our 6 kids 13, 12, 11, 7, 1 and 2 month old. They gave us a complimentary upgrade to the Royal African Queen Suite and the staff was sooo nice. Housekeeping came on the second day while we were at the waterpark and cleaned our room soo nice, put the kids blankets on their beds and folded some of their clothes! Every employee we came encounter with spoke to us and gave us a smile and made sure we were enjoying ourselves. The staff was very helpful and the lifeguards were very serious (which I liked). The resort was clean and if there was a piece of paper on the floor and an employee walked by it he would pick it up. The sweet hut had great treats and the ice cream was wonderful. The 20 inch pizza was huge, tasted good and a great deal for my family. It was not busy at all when we went through the week and my kids got to take advantage of that on the go karts, laser tag, rock climbing etc. They were usually the only ones on the rides! I even lost my purse near the go karts and someone very honest, employee or guest turned it in to the them park desk with all my money and cards in it! I was soo thankful for that! All in all it was a great trip. My kids did not want to leave and the Kalahari made us feel like they appreciated our business!!! THanks Kalahari we will be back!
Great family getaway. Definitely worth it. There are plenty of rides for every age and level of excitement you want, from a lazy river to a chute that drops you from the ceiling straight down.
I went while my husband was at a meeting, and enjoyed the lazy river by myself. Many families there enjoying waterparks, and all the amenities including indoor golf range, slides. If you want something quiet and romantic, this is may not be the place for you. Staff is super friendly, helpful. There is something for everyone.
I set my expectation low because I haven't been to any of the indoor waterpark resorts. I chose Kalahari because it was recommended by friends. Myself, my husband, my sister, her husband (all of us in our early 30's) and boys age 2 and 4 and my 16 year old brother and his friend all had an awesome time. That goes to show that you can have fun at any of our ages. The kids could even come on some of the tube water slides with us and they loved it. My husband and I and the 16 year olds went on every single water slide ride and had a blast. The food and drinks were a bit pricey but was all very tasty - no complaints except that when we were in line for food, around 1:00, they were out of a lot of things so we had to wait, but the positive to that was that they were all very fresh! It was very warm inside and surprisingly clean as well. The lifeguards were all very helpful and nice. I didn't feel like anyone was overly strict as others have said in reviews, though maybe it was because we didn't do anything wrong?!We only went for the day but would go back and stay for weekend in the winter any time.
We walked in the lobby and were blown away. You can see all levels from down below or look down at a restaurant and shops from the hallways up above. Lots of zebra and lion and elephant decor. Dont forget your camera! We were woken up to pipes banging at 6:30 am both mornings and could not fall back asleep. The room was very comfortable otherwise besides the sound of people running up and down the stairs until midnight. The shower felt like it was going to fall through the floor. We were nervous taking showers. The buffet has very good foods but it was cold. Kielbasa and bacon wrapped potatoes. Choc chip mini pancakes and butterfinger pancakes. Tons of fruits and desserts. 3 or 4 types of scrambled eggs and lots of toppings. The buffet area looks over the waterpark. The cafeteria had very good food as well and affordable. We didnt even leave the water park for food. The lazy river was noce because it went off into different directions butit wasnt very deep. You couldnt hang over your tube and float without dragging on the ground. Most of it was 1-2 ft deep. It does run into the small wave pool which was kinda neat. There were small hot tubs spread put around the place. Nothing bog like the Wilderness except the outdoor one. They allow you to bring food in from the cafeteria. People had chicken fingers, burgers, salad and pizzas. The swim up bar was very narrow and right next to the pool area with the basketball going on. We didnt go in there. We did get a huge drink in a cup we bought from the bar in the pool area. We went wed-fri and there was plenty of seating all over. No laying lawn chairs though. I was excited to lay on one by the wavepool with my drink but was dissapointed to only see them in the cabanas. We liked rhat all of the waterpark was on one section and not seperated throughout the building. There still was a lot of walking since the theme park was on the opposite end. The theme park had so much to fill our 3 days there. The passes were good for our entire stay vs the Wilderness where its one play for each thing. The prize counter was ok. The workers were generous. We could reload extra $ unto our game cards at any point on our own. They have 2 climbing walls and an awesome ropes course. Mini golf and electric cars. The ferris wheel was fun and the 4D shooting ride was awesome!!! Lots of bouncing snd effects like going up and diwn roller coasters so I did close my eyes a lot but it was a great experience. Lazer tag was top notch. We played it a lot. All this was included in the price of the wris bands! Wehad a buy one get one free night so we oayed $27/each for s bracelet but I know there ate nights where they are included in the room price. I would definatley stay there again but request a room away from the stairs.
