Love this place. So proud of our City to have such a gem. This picture brings back memories as a kid walking through the "Streets of Old Milwaukee" for the 1st time and being in awe. Will get back soon. You should too.

A great day out, you'll want to spend about 3 hours minimum here. With some unique dinosaur skeleton casts, butterfly room, deadly insects and even a famous gorilla, the Milwaukee museum has something for everyone. The closest I've seen to this museum would be the Liverpool world museum, with a host of world culture. Highlights of the Milwaukee would have to be the South America exhibits and shrunken heads.

Awesome museum. I got lost in it for hours, great exercise!!! I recommend bringing a small water bottle, it gets dry in there fast. I visited during the Titanic exibit years ago...fascinating!!!

A CLASSIC Milwaukee experience. The 'Streets of Old Milwaukee' was a favorite of mine as a school kid on a field trip, and remains so even in my 50's!

I cannot say enough good things about the Milwaukee Public Museum! Our favorite parts are Streets of Old Milwaukee, the European Village, the Dinosaurs, the Rain Forest, and entire 3rd floor of Around the World. The museum also occasionally hosts traveling exhibits which is a nice way to keep things interesting. My husband and I love going because we always learn something new and we're thinking of becoming members as the membership pays for itself in 2 visits! It's great for a weekend date and of course for a family outing! I would highly recommend visiting!

The Milwaukee Public Museum is a first rate museum. From the Streets of Old Milwuakee to the canopy walk in the Rain Forest and that's just on the first floor. The 2nd & 3rd floor plus the Meso American mezzanine is all available for you to discover. A must see if you are visiting Milwaukee. IMAX theatre is also inside the museum with a minimum of 3 movies to pick from.

I never knew that the Milw. museum was a rare type of museum. From the Streets of Old MIlwaukee to the dinosaurs and everything in between, it was always a favorite destination for my family. Now that we have moved to another state, we can't find another museum that even comes close.

Hard to believe it cost $21 to enter the Museum. It's something I would do once a year on the Milwaukee residents free day.

This is very well worth your time and visit. Suggest planning at least 4 hoursif you are planning on seeing it all. Well laid out and worth while to see. Be.en there more then once.

The Milwaukee Public Museum offers many displays and instructional experiences. The old world experience on cobblestone streets is always a favorite. You can book weddings and special events there. They do offer food and have movie theater. The down side is that it's location makes parking difficult depending on when you visit. Very interesting and educational.

Just visited here again with my husband for the 4th time. It's always a good time and despite having seem it many times we keep coming back. I'm sure we'll be back again.

The museum’s entry hall has the Sense of Wonder display of portions of the collections, set in sturdy cases of the style of a hundred years ago. Overhung by a whale skeleton that gets trimmed with lights at Christmas, it shows geological specimens, Native American artifacts, and amazing birds, bugs, and bronzes. Amidst the cases stand several skeletons, one being that of Samson, the famed lowland gorilla who lived at the Milwaukee Public Zoo for more than thirty years. Nearby is a museum artist’s re-creation of the great creature. Our most recent visit was on a busy day, with crowds meandering everywhere. A group gathered around the case with the lifelike copy of Samson was listening to an account of gorillas’ lives and habits, told by no ordinary docent. It was our good fortune to hear and meet Sam Malfa, Samson’s long-time keeper, who shared vivid memories and tremendous insights. That would have been enough for one visit, but there’s a glacier and rain forest to see, a butterfly vivarium, and the Streets of Old Milwaukee; that’s just the first floor. You’ll need to need to go upstairs to sample other continents and climes and cultures. When you get to the buffalo hunt, look for the button that makes the rattlesnake sound off (an easy-to-learn secret that you can pass on to the kiddies).

Excellent museum collection. Arctic and Africa are 2 regions I particularly liked. The 3D show was over-hyped though. I had to shell out $15 for parking.

I always stop at the public museum when in the city for business. My wife and I have a membership even though we live outside Milwaukee. I like to start at the third floor and the walk all the floors down. There are a lot of hidden gems, must look around for some side hallways that lead to some exhibits that are not well marked. The IMAX is worth the stop.

Anyone who grew up near Milwaukee probably remember visiting the Milwaukee Public Museum as a kid on a class trip. But I've recently rediscovered it as an adult, and it is not the boring place my 8 year old self thought it was! Plus, I was amazed to find my 5 year old daughter LOVES it! She is enamored with the skeletons of the mammoth, hump-back whale, and saber tooth tiger. She LOVES sitting in the "glacier" and simply cannot get enough of looking at the mummy as well as the Butterfly Atrium It is a fun place to go which never seems to be too crowded, and you can easily spend the entire day there. A membership gets you even more benefits, like $5 parking in the adjacent parking garage, discount on food and merchandise, and the ability to do "scavenger hunts" with the kids (which are really awesome!). We're having fun visiting again and again as new members!
