这个是蓝带啤酒家族的老宅子,漂亮的很,给我们讲解的是位老先生很有风度,讲的非常精彩,胸牌上的数字表示他已经讲解了1500多场了,每场一个小时哦。只是可惜里面不能不能拍照。
The tour included lots of interesting history facts not only about the Pabst family, but also about Milwaukee and a bit about the history of beer. Our tour guide was good.
Our docent gave us lots of great information on Captain Pabst and family as well as the history of the home. She went into detail about the different styles in the each of the rooms. The preservation society is doing a wonderful job restoring the property back to its former glory. The Diocese owned the property between the Pabst Family and the preservation society and made interesting decorating choices that the society is correcting but this does take lots of time and $$.
My family and I stopped at the mansion for the tour. It is a grand house with lots of history. We had a nice time on the tour
This was nice diversion but the tour is not ling enough or interesting enough. There Ned's to be more. Beautiful mansion though that really gives a good idea about how rich people lived at the turn of the last century.
On our first trip to Milwaukee, it seemed only natural to visit the home of one of the city's most famous citizens. We were fascinated with the opulence enjoyed by the famous Great Lakes sea captain and his family, including many prominent national and international guests as the good captain emerged as an international beer baron. All of the acquired wealth could not stave off sickness and tragedy, including shortened lives. The men would gather in the smoking parlor after dinner while the women would gather and often play a musical instrument, as one activity. A truly remarkable piece of Americana , worthy of being preserved for future generations .
Guided tours only; check for start times to avoid long wait. Docent for our tour knew lots of interesting things about house and Pabst family.
We took the full guided tour of the Pabst Mansion and never realized how much history there was behind the family in general. The Mansion is beautiful and one of a kind. They haven't restored the 3rd floor yet, but still worth it. I know we paid for admission, but don't remember how much it was.
The mansion rooms are really decked out in fabulous style for the holidays by different decorators/designers and the tour is self-guided during that season. It is always astonishing to see the luxury & wealth from that time period and they have done an outstanding job of preserving and restoring this place to its original magnificence. I believe that they are soon to start on the third floor restoration as they relocate the offices so there will be even more to see.
The wealth displayed in this mansion is mind blowing. The historical society should be proud of the restoration that they have done with this building. Myself--I had no idea this kind of lavishness existed in mid-America. $9 adult tours are available lasting an hour. The guide kept the group together and on track. Parking was a problem but street parking was available.
I'm ready to move in!:) You can go anytime, but Christmas is my favorite time to go , they have it decorated so pretty. I would suggest getting a guided tour, you'll learn so much more. The Woman"s Parlor and Dinning room are my favorite rooms. Also, I don't know about other times of the year but during the Holiday Season Barlatta's will host dinners, a little pricey, but gives you a chance to get all dressed up. One of my favorite buildings in Milwaukee.
loved how the different sides of doors went with the facing rooms. Architectural gem, acoustically incredible with modernity for its time. Lavish rooms, furniture, artwork, decor. Fascinating stories from tour guide. Worth the visit if you have a couple hours in Milwaukee, or if you're looking for a unique venue for a wedding. Short walk from Marquette.
The place is ideal for a weekend where you are in town and want to explore towns history and lifestyle of a beer baron. Dig in to the luxuries that money could but in those days. Liked : The house, build, furniture, fixtures and architecture. Disliked : Smell of old house.
This tour takes about an hour to complete. The basic tour allows you to see the main floor and second floor of the mansion. By learning about the Pabst family, you get insight into the Milwaukee area. Our tour guide was friendly and informative. There is a small gift shop on the premise. Probably not a tour for younger children.
I'd recommend this tour 100%, the woodwork inside is beyond amazing and the history of the family is really interesting too. Next time I return to Milwaukee I plan on visiting again!
