Wonderful location to hold any event. Conference Center is friendly; always can locate a person for assistance. Staff is very helpful as well as attentive to groups needs. Would highly recommend this location for any event.
Minona Terrace is not just a convention center. It's a *beautiful* space, as designed over 50 years by Frank Lloyd Wright, and eventually built by the city. It's worth a visit and stroll along the pictures of FLW, his work, etc.
Great especially for Frank Lloyd Wright fans and for a great view of our lakes and downtown. A great venue for various events from weddings to expos to lunchtime yoga! A must see for travelers and newcomers to the Madison area .
Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center's a nice place but it's basically boring. If you are interested in seeing modified Frank Lloyd Wright architecture, go ahead. There are some community oriented dances, etc there during the summer and they are fun. Visit the Otis Redding Memorial if you're a fan. The bike path and walking path that runs between the edifice and Lake Monona are nice. It probably won't be the highlight of your trip/visit to Madison, however.
We were there for a competition, which was held downstairs while other events went on elsewhere in the facility. The architecture is fabulous. The staff, which around all the time, even late, was friendly and polite, even to a rowdy bunch of kids. The lake was frozen, and people were walking on it!
Great venue for the USA Climbing championships. Interesting Frank Lloyd Wright architecture. Not sure its really worth a visit for architecture lovers; too much altered from original designs. But great venue for events
Was just here last weekend for an event. The convention center is large enough to host several events at the same time, without feeling crowded. The view of the lake is very nice! Staff was very helpful.
Attended national climbing championships - great facility with beautiful design and views of the lake
If you are a Frank Lloyd Wright fan Monona Terrace is a must. It was originally his vision that outlined this building. I attended the winter Farmers Market. The only issue is parking when there are multiple events going on. I tecommend to not pay the $5 but park outside their ramp for a much better price and walk to the Terrace.
4/20/2010 I don't know much about Frank Lloyd Wright and architecture but I do know that I am a big fan of Otis Redding. After planning a weekend trip to Madison, I wanted to find a nice spot to have a picnic and Monona terrace came up on the list. They have a rooftop garden and lucky for us it was about 75 degrees and sunny. My friends were absolutely impressed as we ate our lunch and looked out over Lake monona with the Capitol bldg as our backdrop. We then took a small walk to visit the bench and plaque which pay homage to Otis Redding as he died in a plane crash at Lake Monona. The bldg is gorgeous and it adds a great touch to anyone looking to enjoy the lake and Madison for free!
Frank Lloyd Wright is my favorite architect so visiting Wisconsin; Monona Terrace was a must for me. It sure doesn't disappoint. The views of the lake are breath-taking equally both in winter and summer. The center itself is very well maintained, always clean and very informative with interactive signs all around. It's free admission so you don't have any excuse not to see it.
First, you can't think of the "skyline" of Madison, without including the Monona Terrace. It is a beautiful piece of architecture, and a nice place to enjoy both the views of the lake and the Capital. This was also the location of my wedding reception, and therefore holds a special place in my heart. The staff is great to work with, the food was exceptional, and you couldn't ask for a better Madison location.
Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, this facility is a gem to walk about and explore. There are informational signs everywhere to include interactive videos. The gift shop offers many of his designs. Make sure you spend time walking on the terrace overlooking Lake Monona.
I was very impressed with learning the history and being able to freely walk around this great property; You can view it during the day or night. If you are a Frank Lloyd Wright fan, it is mandatory to see. Free admission too, unlike Talesin.
The Monona Conference Center is located right on the shore of Lake Monona. It's a beautiful location. If you are an event attendee, you will enter off of Wilson Street. If you are an event exhibitor, you will enter off of John Nolen Drive. Because we were exhibiting and had been given the Wilson Street address, we had a bit of a kerfuffle finding the proper loading area.
