It's a little gem tucked away in Alburtis....The old furnace ruins in the park are a beautiful setting for a wedding with the arches adding a church like feel. Not too much shade on a sunny afternoon - bring water. Ample parking.
Lockridge is nice little park with neat old iron furnace right in the middle of it, the furnace need funding since it's over a hundred years old, other wise it will fall apart. :(
Nice walking trail. Picture perfect place with a nice paved hiking/running/biking trail. with a nice measure of history thrown in with the ruin of an iron furnace. The visitor center is open Saturdays during the summer for tours and you can get into the restored parts of the furnace as well. Exercise and education is a pretty good combination.
We love Lock Ridge Park. We live a few blocks away and go here all the time. It is on the land that used to house Lock Ridge Furnace back in the late 1800's. There is even part of the old furnace building still standing today along with some other stone structures. Every May there is May festival with the crowning of the May Queen and maypole dancing. In April the bluebells are gorgeous. You can walk on the trail, fish in the creek or just relax on a blanket in the sun. Many wedding and picnics are held here and you can even rent a pavilion. It is a wonderful gem!
I love this place tucked away in the middle of the little country town of Alburtis, PA. Has lots of beautiful old stone structures, nice trails and lots of low grassy areas for kids to run around in or have a picnic. Took my daughter here growing up and spent many happy hours in the sunshine and in a beautiful environment hidden from the road. If you go in May around the middle of the month (depends on how warm it is) you will see over 2 acres of incredible purple grape hyacinths. I have never seen anything like it in my worldly traveled life. Gorgeous! Makes for a lovely spring or summer day event. Trails are nice for strollers and riding bikes too.
