Beautiful stone home adjacent to the Lehigh County Historical Society (which is also worth a visit). Unfortunately it is seldom open to the public. Worth inquiring about open hours at the LCHS.
A lovely place to enjoy history and culture of the times. Very pretty surroundings and a perfect spot to take the family for a quiet experience in history.
We recently went to the Liberty Bell museum and then went straight to Trout Hall. It was frustrating that we made it to Trout Hall about 45 minutes - 1 hour before closing. The admission to Trout Hall was $5 a person, so $20 for our family. This seemed a little steep considering that we had a very brief tour and obviously would not have time to look at anything at the Lehigh County Historical Society next door. The guide seemed to know very little about the family or the house and frequently referenced a script. She seemed to know about 5 major facts from that era and made it a point to repeat those same 5 facts in each room. So, yes -- mirrors were called "looking glasses" at the time and they were very new and fashionable, Chinese porcelain was coveted by many and it could be differentiated from British china because it was see-through and British China was not... etc. Once I hear the fact, though, I heard it and I do not need to hear it in each room. Perhaps a script with interesting (and different!) facts to point out in each room would be helpful to the guides.
