Seems like Farmers Markets are becoming more and more a thing of the past... However, the Allentown Farmer's Market is still going strong. There are numerous vendors, some traditional staples who've been there for ever and others pop up as newbies from time to time.We primarily visit during the summer months for fresh veggies, fruits and organic meats. Additionally, there is a great cheese shop (Wittman's). Go say hi to either Shawn (father or son). They are great people who take pride in their craft.
Local vendors with very good fresh foods. Even a fun event to just 'window shop' if your not really shopping. Worth a look on Saturday morning !
Liked the variety of the market, selection of the foods Disliked high overpriced vendors, not all but some.
Fresh fruits and vegetables.Butcher meats.Homemade pies, cakes, candies.Specialty items. You can spend the day here !!! Shop, have lunch, sample... For old timers, it's a place to remember how things were. For the younger crowd, it's a way to experience shopping with a personal touch.
Lots of different vendors and choices of items. Really liked to go and just walk around. You can get just about anything from food to clothes.
After attending another function close by we decided to check the Farmers Market out and I'm glad we did. I have never been in a Farmers Market so big and with such a diverse selection of products to buy. Tons of Amish and PA Dutch treats, all kinds of meats and cheeses plus the normal produce. I bought some rice pudding with raisins that came close to being as good as my grandmothers. Next time I come down I'm bringing my wife and plan on spending a couple of hours here. It's definitely something you have to see to believe. AWESOME place !!!!
This is by far one of the best markets we've ever been to. Have been going for YEARS, and it just keeps getting better and BETTER! Only open Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays (but not during the Great Allentown Fair), and it is definitely worth getting there whenever your schedule allows. Too many booths and shops to count - all wonderful. Lots of authentically Amish and/or PA Dutch foods and goods. The vast variety of goodies from the Amish bakery is beyond words..... Don't even look at their displays if you're on a diet. Too hard to pass by!!! Lots of smoked meats and great cheeses as well as prepared entrees and fresh fruits and veggies at various booths. The authentic little coffee "house" has the best Chai Lattes and hot chocolate you can imagine - and coffee in too many flavors and types to count. Usually lots of samples to try as you walk the long building up and down ---- several times to assure you don't miss anything amazing! Prepare to spend at least an hour or two to get to see everything and take it all in.
A great farmer's market. Whenever I can I try to get my fresh fruits and vegetables. Also local honey and a zillion other healthy things. Traditional Pennsylvania Dutch goodies may not be particularly healthy but are very good and fresh. Lunch can be had here too. I usually go to the Mediterranean place for lunch when I can. Overall it's really great.
This market has such a variety of foods, meats, dishes, prepared, raw, fruits, vegetables, a few places to have a meal, vendors selling commercial products....this place has it all and the prices were so reasonable! Wish we had this market close to us!!
I had never been to this venue. I went with a friend who had recently moved to the city. It reminded me so much of the Reading Terminal Market, but on a smaller scale. I will point out that the aisles are narrow. I did purchase some from fresh chicken habanero cheddar sausage, which was fabulous. For hubby coffee drinker, I bought a 3 bean mix of decaf beans from the Coffee Vendor. He prepared it & called it Back Bay Blend. I also bought a bottle of Niagara wine from a Winery there. I also did pick up some grab bag gifts for Christmas Although it was a quick visit, I wish I had more time to linger. I wish I lived closer so I could buy the fresh foods!!
The farmers market in Allentown has been a long-standing marketplace for locals. The people who serve there are wonderful. There are a variety of shops from food from in to candy to vegetables to fish, meats and several delis. etc. I don't find super low prices at the market, but know that most of the meats and cheeses are fresh. After a while the marketplace can get busy, crowded and a bit stifling. It's not a great place for children to tagalong either as it's narrow, and this can make it tough for strollers or kiddos to hang in.Overall a nice place to get a variety of fresh foods, but not a high tourist attraction for more than 30 minutes.
You can't leave the Allentown Farmers Market empty handed. The stands are filled with fresh meats, Amish baked goods, prepared meals, candies, and much more. You can usually get in and out quickly with what you need because the service is fast!
Wow I love love this place.there is so much variety and the prices are reasonable.everything looked so good and everything I ate was wonderful.there is something for everyone and every age group. I even saw homemade dog biscuts for sale. You can buy all your holiday gifts here.you can cater your holiday parties too.a great place for the whole family or a great date place. The only critisim maybe that some of the workers were not so friendly. There is so much variety.you can have bakery goods, tex-mex, barbeque, pickelss, bagels, pizza, candy , and nuts, also, there are fruit and vegetable stands and a full grocery store. It is open 3 days fri sat and sun.there is ample parking so go and enjoy you will want to go back soon. I do.
The Allentown indoor farmers market is located at the Allentown Fairgrounds, and is open year round Thursday 9am-8pm, Friday 8am-8pm, and Saturday 8am-6pm. There are numerous local and Amish merchants and vendors offering a wide variety of food products including meats, poultry, seafood, farm & dairy produce, and of course baked goods. You name it they have it here. If you get hungry, you’ll find plenty of places or stands that server food. We always stop here when in the area. I can still smell and taste all that wonderful food.
