Was at the museum for a talk by Victoria Wyeth and to view the Wyeth exhibit. The museum is tucked away in Chadds Ford; great venue and worth a trip.

Weekend visit free before noon! Saw Jaime Wyeth's works of art which are there until April. Definitely a wonderful day spent admiring his work. Small intimate museum! Loved it!

This museum is always a pleasure to visit. Our most recent visit was for the current Jamie Wyeth exhibit, where a substantial body of his work was on display. The chronological display added to understanding the evolution of Mr. Wyeth's work. Overall, it was an impressive collection, shown in very pleasant surroundings. If you can enter on a Sunday morning, there is no charge.

Having seen, a couple of years before our visit, a BBC documentary on the life and art of Andrew Wyeth we were keen to journey out from Baltimore. The gallery is modern and on one side full height glass overlooks the small river. On our visit three generations of the Wyeth dynasty were on display with the work of James (the youngest) being the most diverse. In one room Andrew's painting Roasted Chestnuts is supported by various preparatory sketches and painting fragments to illustrate the development of the work. The section displaying "Heritage" paintings by other artists and for us seemed an unnecessary filler and didn't fit in so leave this to last.Adopt the tip given by others about 2 for 1 for AAA members. The Cafe on site (also overlooking the river) does simple light lunches such as soup, sandwiches and salads.

A great local musuem with alot of local history, we always try and visit when we are in the area. A nice surprise this trip that we didn't know about was if you visit on Sundays before noon (you might want to confirm that time I don't remember) you get in for free. They have a small lunch room with sandwich, soup and salad options which is nice, you don't have to leave to eat. A good size gift shop area. We look forward to our next visit to see what has changed.

This was our first visit to the museum and it's definitely the whole package. First, the grounds are beautiful! - even in winter. Second, the building is an art piece in and of itself. It snowed the day we were there and it was incredibly peaceful and beautiful watching from inside the museum, through the walls of glass, which overlooks the Brandywine River. Third the exhibits are fantastic. Make sure you allow enough time to get through the 6 galleries. We thought we would only need a couple of hours, but two hours, became 3 hours, became 4 hours, of strolling through all three floors. They also have a nice eating establishment with a limited, but healthy, selection of soup, sandwiches and salads. Very good food and another great view. The staff was very helpful and cheerful. We will definitely go back again when the weather warms up to stroll the grounds as there is a nice river path to walk. Highly recommended trip!If you have a chance to see the Jamie Wyeth exhibit get there! The depth and breadth is amazing.

Even though I am local, my wife and I always find some new, interesting fact when wevisit the Museum. The close proximity to Longwood Gardens, the Brandywine Battlefieldmake this a must see. Plus a tour of the Wyeth studio is a must as well.

This lovely museum has an excellent collection of Wyeths. If you are an Andy or Jamie Wyeth fan, you will be absolutely charmed! Lovely facility nestled near Longwood Gardens and other spectacular Brandywine Valley attractions.

The rooms and paintings in them were well-marked. I learned a lot about the Wyatts. The gift shop was well-stocked. Everything was clean and the museum was easy to get around in. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The museum showcases The Wyeth family, as well as other notable artists. You can immerse yourself as much or as little in the experience, and have a very enjoyable day. Visiting the studios of NC and Andrew Wyeth is a highlight. The architecture of the museum is well thought out, and the grounds are beautiful. I plan to visit whenever I am in the area!

We spent about 2 hours enjoying the art on exhibit. The building itself is beautiful. We loved looking out over the river from the 2nd and 3rd floor. If you are AAA members, use it for one free admission.

I have been there before and have always enjoyed it, as have many others who have posted about it. I am writing this now as a suggestion that you visit before April 5, 2015. The current exhibit consists of the works of Jamie Wyeth, the latest of the great artistic family. The best way to describe the exhibit is the word "Awesome". As a regular amateur art enthusiastic, I state that his works are among the best that I have had the privilege of seeing. Do not miss your opportunity to share in this.

A late fall visit to the Brandywine River Museum and an unexpected tour of the N.C. Wyeth House & Studio were a perfect reintroduction to one of America's most important art families. We'd hoped to see the Andrew Wyeth studio - but the tours were sold out (all the more reason to MAKE A RESERVATION if you really want to see a particular studio...) Anyway, the museum staff recommended the tour of the N.C. Wyeth home and studio instead, and it was a wonderful, serendipitous change. N.C. Wyeth is the patriarch of the clan, and an artist you'll recognize, if you enjoyed classic Robert Louis Stephenson books such as "Treasure Island" and "Kidnapped." N.C. Wyeth was the illustrator, and it's his images you might see in your dreams of pirates and buried treasure. The Brandywine Museum has many of the original oil paintings for the books, an extraordinary treasure. So glad we saw the family home first - as it's where Andrew Wyeth grew up, and is a miniature look at early 20th century decor and home life. The studio is stunning, and feels as though N.C. Wyeth might walk through the door at any moment. His props are strewn around on tables and shelves and unfinished work rests on easels, lending to the the "he's just left for a few moments" feeling. Do not hesitate to add a tour of the N.C. Wyeth house & studio to your visit to the lovely, small, Brandywine River Museum. The museum itself is very manageable, and includes paintings by every generation of the Wyeth's. Built of stone, the museum feels of the Pennsylvania earth, and a nearby river walk allows you to better appreciate the landscape that inspired the Wyeth family. Plan on a couple of hours.
