Stopped at the location twice while in Bradford, PA for a 4 day weekend. Both times the location was closed.
While driving back home on the way to Canada my friend from Elkridge, Maryland & I dropped by this place for a quick tour. There were several cars in the parking lot but when we looked around it appeared that this place was closed. They certainly have a reasonable admission price and sizeable property to check out. I have driven by this place several times and have always wanted to check it out. In fact, when we went into Bradford, PA it was highly recommended to us for a tour!
A nice little oil history museum with its focus on the Bradford Field. Featured is a full-sized wooden standard rig and several other pieces of oil field equipment from the 1880s through the 1950s. It's not the Drake Well Museum, but it's a great little museum to stop in while you're in the Bradford area.
A very historic place. Lots to see and learn. Smaller kids will get bored though.
My husband and I stopped in here on our way across PA on scenic route 6. What a find and well worth the $5 admission. I always knew we had some of the highest quality oil in the world right here in PA but didn't know the depth of the history and importance to this part of the state. The 2 guides who led us through the museum were from multi-generational oil families and just full of knowledge. Another visitor we bumped into was also from an oil family and just fascinated by the memorabilia in this museum. When we left the museum we saw a small well in someone's front yard! We never would have been looking for one if it weren't for our visit to Penn Brad Oil Museum.
