How in the world could you write a bad review about this place. Ok, it's not the Pittsburgh Zoo. But for a little town this is a very nice, clean zoo. I go to alot of zoos. They have a very nice selection of animals and a nice selection of things you can buy.
This is a fantastic treasure in our area. We love going here at least 3 to 4 times a year. We recommend going here if you are in the Donegal area.
very well kept - clean and you can get up close to all the animals - a lot of fun to feed them - even as adults!
We took our son here once last year, and he had so much fun, we bought season passes for this year! He's 4 now and just loves getting to feed and pet the animals. Living treasures is almost always changing things or adding animals, so it's a different experience each time, even when we've gone twice in the same month. It takes us about an hour or so to walk thru feeding with the dry food, when we buy the carrots too it takes a little longer as we feed more animals. It's nice to be able to just take half a day or less for something fun and still have time for other things. Weekday mornings seem to be the best as its not busy yet, and the animals are hungry! If you're looking for relaxed, fun, family time, this is a nice place!!
We always spend part of a day at Living Treasures when we stay at Seven Springs. We are all adults now but we still enjoy feeding those animals!
We found this place while staying at the adjacent motel where we heard lions roaring when we checked in! The zoo is very small but there are a number of interesting animals. We saw a lioness with two young cubs, something you don't often see in any zoo. There were water buffalo, interesting birds and a variety of smaller animals that the visitor could feed and pet. Not worth a long trip but if you're in the area, worth a visit. The staff seemed very caring and involved with the animals.
Almost a regular stop for me and my family when we head east on the Turnpike. This park is squeaky clean and the animals are well cared for. You can purchase food to feed the animals, with the exception being the Bengal Tiger and lions. One section features farm animals from different parts of the world. You can ride a pony, horse, or camel, when available. A bit pricey, but the quality of the facility demands a bit higher cost for sustainability. It makes a great rest stop.
We really enjoyed our visit to Living Treasures! The animals were close and looked forward to receiving the treats we bought. The baby kangaroo, tigers, and lemurs were the highlight for us but we also enjoyed the cleanliness of the park and friendly staff
My husband and I took our two daughters, ages 5 and 6. As we emerged from the store and started around the park, we could hear roaring, We snooped a little at the bickering porcupines and then followed the sound to the tiger exhibit. A beautiful orange tiger was making the sounds while his white companion slept in the corner. We got to see the baby lion cubs resting in the shade and pet a baby kangaroo. When choosing what food to buy for feeding the animals, carrots did seem like the food of choice for most of the animals. We most enjoyed feeding the bear, he waited so patiently and seemed so appreciative. The ornery little goats are especially entertaining. We enjoyed our visit very much.
I run a summer camp and we took the kids there for a field trip. Loved that fact that you can buy cups or bags of food and feed the animals as you walk around, the kids loved that. It's a pretty small zoo, takes only about 30 min max to walk through it. But they have zoo workers who are available to talk to the kids and answer questions about certain animals. Horse rides are available for an extra fee. The gift shop was surprisingly very large. No large pavilions to eat lunch if you have a large group, just a few smaller picnic tables.
A wonderful and clean facility with so many animals. We stayed at the log cabin motel so had to check this out. We arrived as soon as it opened so we were able to see many of the animals eating and starting their day. Great for young children to not only experience animals close up but it was easy for them to walk around. I was pleasedto see how well the animalswere cared for. The gift shop is huge with a nice selection and great prices!
Really backwoods atmosphere. Very enjoyable. Lots of friendly animals you can hand feed. Some animals that not even the Cincinnati Zoo (near my home) does not have. We always go to this place when we visit family in the area. We will continue to go.
We had 5 adults and 1 two year old and all of us had a great time. At first just the two year old fed the friendly animals. Make sure to buy the big bags of dry food and carrots while buying the tix because the adults will soon want to feed the animals some food. Be ready to explain to the young children why they cannot feed the lions and tigers. The staff was great and very helpful. Admission charges are very reasonable as were prices in the gift shop.. Be sure to print the discount coupon found on line before going. More restrooms are needed as the lines got a bit long at certain times. We will go back every year for a fun day.
What a wonderful afternoon we spent at Living Treasures in Donegal! My little grandson will be 2 in August and his delight was shared with the entire family as we walked thru the park. He was so excited by each and every animal there. The section where he could touch and feed the animals had to have been his favorite until we reached the pony ride. Although we all felt he would never get on the pony, he completed the entire ride smiling and laughing the entire time. With 6 adults the price was very affordable. The park was large enough for us to spend a few hours there but small enough for a 2 year old to make it thru the entire park. We plan to go back again later in the summer!
We live about the same distance from the Pitt zoo and Living Treasures but I prefer the small country setting here. It's easy to access and good close parking. For those that don't like a park that takes so long to walk through, this is your best bet. The animals are friendly, you can feed them, pet them and get close photos with them. It's very clean and well maintained. My kids are gown now, but they still come back each year to see their favorite animals! We love this place and so will you!
