Beautiful, quaint B & B where you are surrounded by kind, caring people. The Robertshaw Country House is well accommodated for a peaceful retreat. The sisters are absolutely wonderful.
My sister and I were welcomed with open arms and hearts! The atmosphere was lovely, the rooms spotless, breakfast plentiful and Benedictine nuns so very kind. We were the only guests the weekend we stayed and were given run of the Robertshaw Country House, a restored home with beautiful grounds, library, sitting rooms and a den. Just perfect-thank you!
This is a very nice place for peace and prayer. They have flea market, retreats, dinner, and other social events. I would recommend this to anyone in need of reconnecting with the faith. All of the sisters are sweet and kind.
Everything is in order, and there is plenty of history available. The people are very kind and knowledgable, not to mention God fearing. You can only increase your aptitude by visiting this special location in Westmoreland County. A well of knowledge in so many different ways.
The monastery offers a peaceful, inspirational setting. The Robertshaw Bed and Breakfast is simple elegance at its best. All the amenities you could wish for while continuing the peaceful setting of the monastery.
This is a must visit. We visited several months ago and are planning a Valentines 3 night stay. Our previous visit was the most relaxing, peaceful and enjoyable stay away from home. We travel frequently yet this location gives something other places cannot - a true welcome home with serenity, peace, refreshment of the soul, rekindling of faith, a closeness to God, a surrounding of immeasurable love. The grounds are beautiful, with the most excellent walking course labeled with Bible stories. The table with Jesus is the most remarkable site - sitting with Jesus is amazing. I recommend a walk around the entire property and please take the time to visit the chapels. Even if you are not Catholic, you will find this place to be a religious comfort; a place of sanctuary for all. We highly recommend attending church with the nuns no matter your faith. We are looking forward to visiting during the holidays in the coming year. Visiting the grounds is free, joining the nuns for vespers is free, the only cost is spending the night in the beautiful B&B.
During the year there are events at St Emma's which include food. The Sisters are very welcoming and a good tome is had by all. The food is very good.
I needed a rest and some peace to begin the advent season and my overnight at the Robert Shaw Bed and Breakfast fulfilled this perfectly. I was able to refocus and center in the peaceful beauty of the grounds at St Emma Monastery. The Bed and Breakfast was quite festive with Christmas decor. I enjoyed walking and praying and eating the lovely breakfast. I hope to return every few months to recharge spiritually. Blessed place.
Both the Sisters and volunteers who staff the gift shop are so helpful. And what a wonderful array of items. I've not been to any retreats there, but, have spoken to many who have and really enjoyed them.
Went to the affair this summer that included food, flea market items and fun for everyone. It was a very nice day and everyone was friendly. The buildings and surrounding are worth the trip alone.
There is nothing to dislike. This is not just a spiritual place but a joyful, loving and educational place. We spent 3 days and 2 nights at the Robertshaw bed & breakfast - during our stay we were treated to a tour by Mother Mary Anne. We would highly recommend the B&B as well as this wonderful monastery.
I have been there many times to visit the religious book store and gift shop. The selection of items is so varied and beautiful. The volunteers are also helpful. I also attend a couple one day retreats at St. Emma's. The sisters provide a wonderful home cooked lunch. The are all so welcoming and Mother Mary Ann is very gracious and friendly with a wonderful sense of humor. The meeting areas are relaxing and conducive to the working, reflecting and social interaction. The chapel is beautiful and it is a great experience to pray with the sisters. The grounds are well maintained and provide a reflective sanctuary to explore. Definitely worth a visit to the chapel and gift shop if you are in the area!
