Saw Disney on Ice here...second show I have attended at this venue. The first I had floor seats and this time we were all the way at the top and I have to say both seats were an excellent view!Only reason I could not give five stars was that the floors were very sticky and dirty and the bathroom that I was in was not very clean and had 2/4 toilets out of order...
if you have tickets..you still might be placed in the wrong seats... got to see a concert without being shoved in with other fans..by mistake..OK by me.. leg room..
Old venue but staff really tries....Kids really enjoy the Games very kid friendly with lots of activities...Very well priced a lot of bang for the buck
We went to the Home opener of the Johnstown Tomahawks. There was almost a full house. It is such a nice atmosphere. Great for couples & family !
Really not suited for anything specific. This town tries to have everything from Disney on Ice, to Monster Trucks, to have been Rockers. None done well, unless You like to sit or stand on the cold floor ( since it is the home of a minor league hockey team ).
I have four season tickets to the Tomahawks. My children and I love attending the games. They are very fast moving and entertaining. The ticket prices are very reasonable. The food selection is a little high and the selection is a small. Parking is mostly done in the streets of the town. We are looking forward to the upcoming season and enjoying the games.
My husband and I come here often for the Johnstown Tomahawks games. The arena overall isn't too bad, but the food stands are pricey. Parking is annoying.. we don't like to pay for it so we park pretty far away and walk over. Overall it's not a bad place to go for a hockey game, not bad seats anywhere you sit. Haven't been to concerts or anything else here so I can't comment on that.
As a local, I have attended events at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena since I was little. The arena seats about 4,000 people, so there is not a bad seat in the house. The film SlapShot was filmed at the arena, and there is a room with memorabilia from the movie open during most events. The lines can get long during sold-out events, but overall it is a great old arena.
We go here for some of the few events that make it to Johnstown, instead of Pittsburgh. I think the Arena still smells like smoke from when you were able to smoke inside the venue.
This is a pleasant facility, well-run, although somewhat behind in upgrades. Certainly the house sound system could be better. But whether it's a hockey game or country singer, you can attend at a reasonable price and see the show from any seat in the house (except possibly for some added on the arena floor itself for stage shows). The snacks are OK, the restrooms are clean, the clientele is courteous.
The Cambria War Arena was a great place to see a concert, nice smaller venue with ability to see the stage and screens from any seat in the house. There was disorganization over floor seating within the first 10 rows of the stage. The seat locations that were sold online were not consistent with the floor plan the evening of the concert. Some ushers were not aware of this inconsistency and seated many of us in the wrong place creating a great deal of confusion and unhappy concert goers.
Tomahawks won! Food was good. Beer was cold. Crowd was rockin'. We enjoyed our time at the game. Going to a hockey game here is a nice alternative during the long winter months.
Because the place isn't terribly big, you can get a good view from just about anywhere. I've been here for mostly hockey games, but also for concerts. Food is pretty good and reasonable priced. Parking can be an issue, as there isn't much in Johnstown.
The Cambria County War Memorial is a splendid edifice and a worthy memorial to the war dead of the area. I wanted to show my grandson all the flood sites of Johnstown and he wanted to add the Cambria County War Memorial because of its fame in the film “Slapshot”. Alas it wasn’t open. Nevertheless, he was pleased to see the Memorial in situ and it is beautifully maintained. It would have been good had we been able schedule an event but, ultimately, it didn’t fit in with our itinerary.
