shaver's creek raptor center

We have visited here many times and most recently again for their Autumn festival. Our kids have always enjoyed coming here for years to see the birds. The people here are very informative and friendly. It really isn't a place to make a day of but if you are in the area it is a nice stop. There isn't a multitude of birds here but they all have stories. Most were rescued and must remain because of injuries that would not allow them to live in the wild.

My husband and I still talk about our visit and hope to get back there. The exhibits and animals are some of my favorites.

Used to be a cozy pretty hangout for quiet loving students. Nice grills and picnic benches, trails etc.

small but neat place to visit, there is a bald and golden eagle, owls and hawks. It is informative and they will tell you about the birds

I visited several times over the years and it just keeps getting better. Great way to spend a sunny afternoon. There is an indoor nature center and someone to answer your questions. Then outdoors, a nice walk from cage to cage to see injured raptors/birds/bats. Most are unable to be released and survive or are healing. Wonderful Bat Nest Box where I could have actually touched one, but I did not! Plan on spending at least an hour.
