four springs winery

I went there on Monday it was closed but the gentlemen there was more than willing to let us in and taste and buy if we came back after the truck delivered

Our visit to the Four Springs Winery was pure joy! It's located next to the Heritage Rail Trail in Seven Valleys, PA. A few steps down the slope from the Trail to the front door of this unique and truly "fine" winery. We entered the front door into the retail shop that features many wine and snack related items. To the left is an L-shaped wine-tasting bar. A small fee (credited back with any wine purchase) gets you 6 tastings of their wines. I tried 7 (yep, 7; the owner said the 7th tasting was on him!) I don't profess to be a wine connoisseur so I will hold back from rating any of the wine, but I do like a nice variety of wines with my meals. I have "sampled" wine at many wineries and Four Springs' wines were the best I've had ANYWHERE, in my layman's opinion. While I was "tasting", another couple came in who seemed to be very knowledgeable and said they had gone on several winery tours in California and Europe. They knew the right questions to ask and were very impressed with the quality of the wines here. They bought just two bottles (they were biking on the Heritage Trail and couldn't carry more) and said they would return by car tomorrow to buy a couple cases! I would say that's a good testimony! I decided on three wines, a fine Chardonnay, a sweet wine ("Fat Cat") and a Cabernet Franc. I'm looking forward to having friends over to try them out. The staff was very knowledgeable. I happened to come on a day when the Owner/Winemaker and his wife were there. The winemaker, "Junior" Mortorff, was able to answer all of the customers questions and gave a nice description of his wine-making process. We asked to see the "wine room". It was impressive for a small winery and was clean and orderly. The owner's wife seemed to be almost as knowledgeable as her husband. Both were very nice people and fun to talk to. The retail store has a nice selection of wine-related items. Nice place to pick up a few gifts to take back home. The store and tasting room is open only FRIDAY, SATURDAY and SUNDAY. I believe they open at 1PM on Friday and 11 AM on Saturday and Sunday. Whether driving or riding/walking the Heritage Trail, a quick stop here will be well worth the time! (They are located in Seven Valleys PA, immediately adjacent to the Heritage Trail and railroad. Find the RR overpass on Main Street in downtown Seven Valleys and you've found Four Springs Winery.)We WILL be back!
