This well-kept park is an attractive greeting spot welcoming travelers to the city of Sunbury, Pa. The historic county court house is adjacent to the park and adds to the quaint setting of the area.
You can get a look into the upstanding citizens of sunbury pa in this park. They like to congregate here as they await the welfare and disability checks to come in the mail. Free admission to a top notch freakshow.
This park was OK. It was quiet with no people. The Civil War monument and cannons were interesting, but the real attraction was the two mortars. The cannons were fenced off, and the mortars plugged. But the appeared to be the model 1861 8 inch siege mortar. If so these are quite an unusual find. The only other 8 inch mortars I know of exist in Charleston, South Carolina. So these two are definitely worth seeing. The have 1864 Fort Pitt markings on them. But because of inaccessibility I could not discern any other information.
