Step back in time to a house full of elegant, locally made glassware produced prior to 1955. It's a real treat and great education. This museum trying to keep alive a huge industry of days gone by. There is also a great gift area where you can buy authentic pieces made right here in Wash PA or books about various manufacturers of glass or collections. A must see, the only Glass Museun ten this tri-state area.
We visited here last summer and just stopped in since my husband is from Washington and they love the Duncan miller glassware. The tour was given by the docent...she gave wonderful information. I thought it would be like any museum and we would just wander through. I learned so much and had a blast. I recommend it to anyone from the area and also any collectors.
There is quite a lot of DM history to be learned there and viewing all the different beautiful glass was thrilling. You can spend as much time as you like and no one rushes you. It is worth the trip to visit Washington PA as there are several historic places to visit as well as the DM museum.
The Duncan and Miller glass museum located in Washington, PA just south of I-70 at the Jefferson Av exit is a wonderful place to revisit the the past and learn a lesson on the history of glass making in the Pennsylvania and West Virginia area. A tour through the museum conducted by a knowledgeable docent takes about 30 minutes and is well worth the time. Displays of glass, glass making tools, and a shop selling Duncan and Miller glass complete the presentation making this an educational visit you should not miss.
