Nice activity to take the kids on. Not so much if you are a solo couple looking for something quiet.I think someone told me they used to do some sort of tour guiding, but now they just play music which was kind of lackluster. The paddle-wheel also doesn't propel the boat, it's just a spinning prop for aesthetics. Seemed like a disappointment to some of the kids.
We were traveling with our church group and were the only ones on the boat. Was a nice 1 hour trip. Beautiful scenery and saw 2 eagles.
My family and I took this on a Sunday, the first outing for the day at 1:00. Here's a few things you will need to know- they give a couple different addresses. Use the Hiawatha Rd one. My husbands GPS got really confused, it told us we were there but we were looking at a berm, there was nothing there at all, we then put the address into my GPS and found it. We also tried following the websites directions, they say the following: "Take U.S. Route 15 South to U.S. Route 220 South. Take Williamsport’s Reach Road Exit and follow signs (1 mile)." What they neglect to mention is when you come off of the exit you will need to make a right. They also say to follow the signs, there isn't any signage until you make that right, if you make a left you will end up on a tiny little road that says private property. Also if you try to call (like we did) you will get a recording telling you to call during business hours which was not when we were calling of course! The ticket selling shed doesn't open until maybe 15 minutes before the boat is set to leave. And when it does prepare yourself for the most disorganized operation on earth. It was like a circus, two young girls that are friendly but seem to botch up any sort of direction given to them. I ordered 3 adult tickets and one child, she rang it up 3 times and then repeated my order, 3 child and one adult, I corrected her and when she gave me my total of $27, I handed her $30, she had to break out a calculator to figure out my change, seriously, i'm not kidding! Then I ordered two slurpies and she asked for the order twice and still got it wrong when she handed them to my kids. The ride on the boat was a complete different story! It was a very nice relaxing ride up the river and back again. There is a nice recording on the ride up of the local history, which I thought was terrific. The ride back is quiet, so you can meander around the boat and take in the view. They sell alcoholic drinks, very inexpensive! Also have a snack menu, my boys had a hot dog.I think everything is very affordable. My complaint for the cruise is only one. Why on earth do they allow smoking?!? It is only an hour long ride, completely unnecessary. There are a lot of children on board, also a few older folks. Nothing worse than watching my son eat while a woman next to him is smoking like a chimney. Needless to say we were forced to relocate once she lit up.Definitely worth the stop! Especially now that the leaves are changing colors!
Finally took the grandkids on the Hiawatha Riverboat. They enjoyed it greatly. However, it was difficult to hear the history that was being explained on the loudspeaker as the other patrons at the tables conversations were too loud. It would have been wonderful to hear about the lumber and other stories being told.
Took the Hiawatha on a Sunday. Great little trip up the sesquehanna River. They have a bar on the boat and they don't overcharge. Fun rip off tickets to win some cash. Hot dogs, soft pretzels and other snacks on board. Just a nice cruise for something different while in the Williamsport area.
Very nice boat ride and beautiful scenery. The lower deck has a/c & a bar so you can enjoy the ride even more.
A super relaxing ride up and down the Susquehanna. Courteous staff and an interesting historical narative of the area. Very affordable. A must do if in Williamsport.
Loved learning the history and background along with the relaxing pace of the boat. Wish they had smaller tables, only had tables of 6 so you were forced to sit with strangers.
This is a relaxing way to spend a peaceful hour floating along, watching the forest-covered landscape of central Pennsylvania glide by. On the banks are many riverfront campsites. And its definitely fun for the whole family. Snacks and drinks can be purchased on board.
This was like revisiting an old friend and great place to reunite with old classmates. We were around and when the Hiawatha started, of course being young and wanted excitement did not appreciate what we had. Upon arrival the waiting area is set up so everyone could wait in comfort. We loaded and were greeted by the very courteous and attentive staff. We departed on very smooth hour trip of the river. The trip was an excellent conduit for chatting and recovering old memories.
Went for a Sunday ride with a nice captain and crew. Very relaxed, smooth ride. Gives local history along with great scenery! Reasonably priced. Dinner cruises and specialty events! Snacks and drinks available on board!!! While only a 45-1 hr. Ride it was well worth the money! Parking is close and just a short walk to get on the boat!
the ride is short but relaxing. its a pretty ride on the Susquehanna. we enjoyed the scenery. the boat has snacks and drinks and every seat is a good seat.
This is a nice calm boat ride on the river. The staff is very friendly. We arrived right on departure time and they waited for us. Very reasonably priced. They give you a short history of the boat and area. Nice for a Sunday afternoon event.
always relaxing to be out on the water, informative without being overly boring, nice folks on deck, priced very reasonably
Even though it was pouring rain we enjoyed our trip on the river and the history of the area commentery. The price was reasonable.
