Regardless of what you think of the lines, crowds, or the brevity of the tour (25-30 minutes), you cannot see what you can see here anywhere else in the entire world. As an American citizen, being able to stand and look at the Genesis of the nation is utterly meaningful and wonderful.
We were in Philadelphia for 3 nights and we really enjoyed seeing Liberty Bell! It's a lot bigger then I thought it would be. There's lovely story boards explaining the history of the bell leading up to the display at the end of the exhibition hall. A great day out for all the family :)
It was our 1st time in Philadelphia and we were not disappointed. We spent the day walking around the historic district and took many pictures as the area is really lovely. Being Europeans, we love old buildings and there are plenty of these. People always talk about Boston, but Philadelphia shouldn't be overlooked and is definitely worth a visit!
A wonderful pace for young and old alike to delve into our nation's history and the forming of our republic. Everything is within walking distance and easy to find with clear signage. The visitor's center is a great place o get brochures and plan your trip to Philly. The people in every building were knowledgeable and eager to answer any questions.
As I mentioned in my review of Independence Hall itself, this park is a gem with helpful guides, great sights and interesting people to watch. The neighborhood is historic and really beautiful in parts. It is often the sight for speeches and parades. If you have never been there or on a one-time visit to Philadelphia, this is a must.
If you're in Philly and you miss seeing the bell, you're not really a tourist are you? Go see it. It's lined up so that there's a nice view of the Independence Hall behind it so you can imagine where the bell hung originally.
This is a major site of the world to see. Take the family and relax through the entire area for the day. The guises are great and the buildings vela and open. No tickets for liberty bell too!
There is always a line to see the bell but there is plenty to see and the history is interesting. Even if you only have a spare 5 mins, stop in and have a look, its free anyways.
Good to go early so one does not have to wait in line so long to view the Liberty Bell. Also, the park ranger gives a good lecture but you should go on line to secure a time. Extremely interesting for everyone (including children).
Visitor center located in downtown Philadelphia between 5th and 6th St. The visitor center is adjacent the Liberty Bell and a block from Independence Hall. Parking garage is located below the visitor center and accessible from either side. Nice exhibits, book store, movie, restrooms, and a very small snack bar. A food court is a block away in the Bourse.
