allen antique mall

Allen, Michigan is considered the Antique Capitol of Michigan. We decided to take a drive and visit some of the MANY antique malls and shops. We only got all the way thru one mall and not even half of another. Lots of things to look at. I am sure we will be going back to see some more of the malls and shops!

We came down from southwestern Ontario to tour the antique malls in this area. We visited this one, the Capitol antique market, the Hog Creek antique market, and the Allen Antique Barn - these are all in Allen Michigan - we also drove about another hour & went to the Maumee Antique Mall which is close to Toledo OHIO. The Allen Antique Barn, the Capitol, and the Maumee 'antique malls' are really not that at all! The items there are primarily not antique, not vintage, not retro, etc. If you want dishes from the late 80's, M & M advertising placards from the 90's, etc, fine, you'd be in the right spot. I'm not an antique snob by nay means, but I know stuff that should be at the Goodwill when I see it! BUT - the Hog Creek and the Allen Antique Malls were pretty good! Lots of vintage 50's rhinestone pins, 60's dishes, old books etc. In my area, we have the 4 antique malls within a 40 min drive, and while I'd say they all beat the ones in this part of the U.S., hands down, I can say with confidence that the Hog Creek & Allen Antique Malls are 85-90% as good.
