We took a casual drive out to this well-established attraction on a cool and windy fall day. I was a little concerned upon arrival due to the abundant crowd and the over-loaded main parking lot. In fact, the lot across the street was pretty full as well. Nonetheless, we were very happy that we stepped in to see what draws so many people here. This place seems to have something for everyone. The obvious traditional apple cider, pies, produce, donuts, jams, caramel apples, and other tastes are in plentiful supply here – and very good. We could see the multitude of family-friendly elements provide a tradition of many returns for many there today. As first time visitors, we all enjoyed the grounds, food, and activities even with the sizable crowd on hand. I almost turned around when we entered the hard cider tasting area due to the mass of guests filling the entire room. Again, I was impressed with the level of service and speed with which we were served. If you or your party do not deal well with crowds – you’ll want to find a slower day if that’s possible. Save some time were you might want to pick your own apples, pet the animals, enjoy the drinks, or just relax and enjoy the day here. I can comfortably recommend this place for people of all ages and interests. There is always something special about the fall colors mixed with apples, cinnamon, and kids on hay rides and this place has them all in full force.
Whenever we get back to Michigan, we always have to include a trip to Blakes for cider and donuts. At this time of year, October, there's also the added beautiful Autumn color, as well as the option for a hayride, paintballing zombies, a picnic under their huge covered tent area, a scary haunted barn and a great store where you can buy apples, cider, local jams, syrups, painted pumpkins, etc. We've been heading to Blakes for too many years to count and always love it.
My wife's family lives in Clinton Township, and every time we come to Michigan from Florida, we go to Blake's. Recently, we found a new and exciting addition, the Cider Mill. But it's a total experience with the U Pick it and the area with the aaaaamazing donuts and awesome cider, along with a hodgepodge of other goodies. I am not a huge cider fan, but it was cool tasting the different ones in a flight and seeing the process unfold. The building has an amazing feel of a nostalgic ski lodge/ frontier lodge. They now have food, which I didn't try the last time, also a new addition since my previous visit.
This is a new hard cider winery located in the countryside of Armada. Relaxing atmosphere, delicious hard cider and wines and friendly staff to help you make the most of your visit.
