alice & jack wirt public library

This library has it all. Beautiful views, sitting areas, historic collections, videos, etc. Everything anyone would want in a main library. It makes you proud to take friends to this library. Way to go Bay County and thank you Jack and Alice Wirt.

The Wirt Library has a very good/great genelogical section with extremely helpful Volunteers available from 1PM to 4PM four days a week. The Library also has interesting programs open to the public that change monthly.

Great place to visit. Plenty of options. Great, free internet access if you're a member. Can get a visitor's pass if you want.

I enjoy escaping to the library to peruse the shelves and sit back by the fireplace (on or not) its a nice peaceful area to read for awhilw.

This library has a 'back room' that has a lot of archival material on the history of the area. I was able to look up several things that I was not able to find anyplace else, even on-line. I even found a copy of my great-grandmothers death certificate on microfilm.This is one of the places to stop at if you need to do historical or geneological research in the area.

One of the upsides to living here in Gaye Chittie. They will also ship books from surrounding libraries right to Wirt so while they don't have everything, they have a great big building space which perfectly suits its purpose. There is even a fireplace or two to read by!!

Stopped in with my granddaughters on a rainy day. We had a good time relaxing and finding books to bring home. Beautiful fireplace too.
