The building is great to visit and enjoy some of its old history. The collection of artist provides something for every one. It is also a very good place to go and just chat with the artist as they are a very friendly and welcoming group of people.
My wife and I have a vacation home in St. Joe, and often visit the Box Factory for the new local exhibits, on-site artisans, and especially the Saturday night concerts featuring regional and often eclectic live music. The staff is very friendly, the concert costs are very reasonable, and the building itself is an interesting historical structure as well. There is a nice gift shop with local art, jewelry and books for sale as well. There is some parking next to the Box Factory, and ample parking across the street. Is is also next to Clementine's Restaurant on the river, which makes for a nice evening. An unpretentious but most enjoyable environment.
I loved this place so much I rented a studio their myself. I'm now one of 50 other studio artists at this amazing Art Gallery. Thee are three galleries with more than 50 studios and business. You can watch artists working or take a class from any number of artists. I love this place. A definite must see place to visit.
Be sure to check out what's happening at "the box". Almost every Saturday night there is live music with admission usually $10. Local artists mainly. Good times! Occasionally they serve wine but usually soft drinks.
The exhibits change monthly and are always interesting. You can see the artists' workshops and see them at work. Wonderful restoration of an old factory
The art shows here are well worth a visit. The quality is higher than an outdoor art fair, and some pieces are stunning and brilliant. The performances are high quality, diverse, and a great value. The ateliers and studios in the building are also frequently open to visitors, and quite inspirational.
We saw the MAAC exhibit which was great with some amazing pieces. Nice little gallery. Am sure they put on some interesting exhibits send events over the year. Look up what is on before you go and check if the studios will be open. We went on a Monday and only one studio was open.
We go every year during the time when they have art from all of the local schools displayed. Such talent from the young people of the community!Always blown away. This gem is a great asset to the Saint Joseph community.
Got in too late so missed the event but visited the next day and strolled through a good sized area with a variety of art displays and craft areas. Watch artists and students of art. An enjoyable time.
My hubby and I plus our friends have been attending concerts at the Box Factory for at least eight years. We have always enjoyed the fine musicians who perform there. During intermission, concert goers can view the art on display. We attended a concert called "Willow" last Saturday night. Our friend, Ed, plays percussion in the band and Erica Nelson is one fine singer and fiddle player who writes a lot of her own music. Another group that we enjoy there is "Lake Effect", a light jazz group. There are refreshments available for purchase. Check on-line for upcoming performances.
A great little gallery/shop. Home to special events, fundraisers and entertainment. Wonderful venue blocks from downtown and the beach.
I went there twice and look around. They were in old warehouse. They have a lot of art stuff there. It was fun to see arts and stuff in old warehouse.
Great art to see and buy! Exceptionally crafted items that you couldn't find anywhere else. You can meet the artists and chat with them. They also have art classes available and some entertainment on weekends. Check out their class schedule. It's a lot of fun and a great way to spend the afternoon or for gift shopping!
This is an extremely active community art center. Sometime there are interesting exhibits and sometimes entertainment. There is studio space, classes, exhibit space. Mostly it caters to local artists and it's own members, but has a professional, if not cutting edge, atmosphere
...I was surprised by the number of artists who have studios here and how professionally they present their individual spaces to the public. Great quality of artwork. Building has great history and helpful information guide. Note that the artists who have spaces are less around on the weekend and more around during the week, if you would like to have a person to person interaction with the artist.
