We walked into Union Pier tasting room today, Sat. Jan. 3rd, @ about 2 minutes to 6. After we arrived, a women locked the door and confronted us at the tasting bar. She stated that tasting ended at 5:45, but she was happy to help us with a purchase, but the tasting was closed. We are very disappointed with the management, and wanted to let you know we never have had this getting coming into your tastings before. This hostess/was very rude. If this truly the policy of the establishment the hours should be posted on line and in the Wine Trail Guide!
Love this stop on the winery tour....they have it all, including distilled spirits! A must stop on the West Michigan wine tour!
My friend and I did a wine tasting at Round Barn when we were staying in New Buffalo! Amazing staff, amazing wine, and just all around amazing!!!!!
This place get's it. Not everyone likes wine and having beer also available provides something for everyone (who cares about this kind of stuff). I enjoyed the wines and bought 3 bottles. You get $5.00 off on the purchase of 3 bottles. The tasting was $10 for 5 tastes, and you get to keep the glass. Same for the beer tasting. My husband enjoyed the beer tasting and we bought some beer and a T-shirt for my brother who is a beer fanatic.
We've been coming here since the winery first started -- interesting wines, and the addition of the beer and vodka make it well rounded
Great atmosphere. Tasting was reasonably priced with friendly, knowledgable staff. The Black Walnut Cremé is a must try!
Wine tasting as well as a brewery and distillery, all onsite. Great food as well as special events throughout each season. Top notch !!
waiter was very friendly and had great info aboit the beers and area. beer was tasty. really liked the cocoa stout. looking forward to going to their Public House to try the food.
We went to the union pier location of round barn and were greeted by friendly staff. They have an offer of $10 for 6 tasting that includes a souvenir glass and a $5 coupon off 3 bottles of wine. My husband did beer tastings (same location, neighboring building). The staff was knowledgable without being pretentious. It was nice because one staff member liked dry wines better while another sweeter wines,so we got slot of direction. We left we a couple bottles of Gewurtztraminer, Rosso - a unique red wine, and a delicious cranberry fruit wine. Also a delicious walnut creme liquor - delicious! Overall, wonderful experience - and we were able to use our $5 coupons plus received 5% off for purchase of 6 bottles. Very pleased, will come again,
We went with 4 adult and 2 toddlers (I know what you're thinking!). They had a little table and chairs off to the side with coloring books and the display of attraction flyers was enough to keep the kids occupied for the hour it took us 4 to have 6 samples of wine each, liqueur and beer. It was fun! There was a variety of styles and flavors of wine and 2 sparkling wines, both yummy! The staff was very nice and thorough. $10 a person for 6 samples of any of the many wines or beers. If you do just beer you get a pint glass included with your $10 and in the barn you get the stemless wine glass. We all got a little loopy (except the driver, my husband, of course) The kids ran around outside and the grounds are very cute. We bought about $100 of wine and beer. you can mix and match 6 packs and we got the Black Walnut liquor and the sparkling wine. Yummy!
My husband and I were greeted cordially and were able to sample wines, spirits, and beer at the Union Pier Round Barn Tasting Room, we were in and out in an hour. The server was very knowledgeable and helpful, and gave us good sized tasting pours. We each purchased the tasting glass which came with 6 tasting tokens which could be used on anything for $10 each. We left with a bottle of wine, a six pack of beer, and bourbon. Overall it was a good experience and we would stop again!
A little busy for our mood at the time. Found plenty of wine to enjoy on our own. Plum wine was great! A little overwhelming with all of the choices
We visited during the height of a Memorial Day weekend festival. The place was understandably packed; however, they still managed to serve lots of people in the tasting room. Our servers were super-friendly and did not seem to be policing the using-up of our tasting tokens, which is a good thing if you're trying to get as much free wine as possible. The barn itself and the grounds are beautiful; seemed as though they had figured out how to scale up the operation successfully to accommodate warm-weather crowds. Wines themselves were kind of all over the place - some great, others OK, some kind of weird. Worth a stop for a $10 flight and free wine glass inside a gorgeous barn.
Have very nice sweet and fruit wines. The most unique is the Walnut Cream. Very good to add to deserts. Kind of pricey but nice wines. Buy a glass for $10 and get 6 free tastings of either wine or beer.
All I can say is Black Walnut Cream...is is amazing. I can't wait to try it on ice cream and in my coffee!
