Good neighborhood bar that's been at the south end of Center Line for many years. The former Pershing High School teacher and basketball star has a gem and knows how to treat his customers. His bar food is much better than average bar food and it's a great, safe place to come for a beer and sandwich. Keep up the good work Doughe Sills, who once was a pretty good third-baseman.
Te Roma was the epitome of "must go to" dive bars back in it's hey day. A small and crowded place, generally always noisy with locals enjoying a day out of the house. A tiny "stage" where karaoke is belted out by the worthy and the unworthy. A small town place in a small town. A local watering hole where you feel like a regular almost right away. In some ways, it's amazing that this place is still there, and in other ways it's no surprise at all. The food and the atmosphere are okay at best. The comfort and the coziness almost non-existent. Yet, Te Roma draws in the crowds. I'm not sure if I recommend this place, in the sense that you must go there, but I do recommend that you peek in there, maybe give it a try for a drink or two. It might just make you a regular too. Call it magnetism.
