I seen this place and had to stop. I am so glad I did as the lady working that day was so nice and helpful with my questions about the lighthouses around Michigan. Plus many things to buy and the profit goes to the Great Lakes Lighthouses to keep them open.
This is a standard gift shop. I got what I was looking for which was a magnet. They do have a map of all the lighthouses in the Michigan. Which I found out was more than I thought
The Great Lakes Lighthouses, along with Mackinaw and Mackinaw Island, are what makes Pure Michigan a great way to spend a vocation.
If you enjoy lighthouses and want to find a nice lighthouse gift and learn some extra things about the ones in the area, go here! The woman who was tending the store was very helpful and wonderful to talk with!
I am a member of GLLKA and love to stop and visit the store. They are also partnered with Shepler's Ferry to do Lighthouse cruises. (Some get sold out quickly so buy your tickets on line!) Well worth the trip.
This informative and fascinating little attraction is not on the main street, so you may not find it unless you go looking for it.The woman behind the counter was a fount of information. She knows so much about local history in general, and lighthouses in particular! I was already toying with the idea of volunteering to be a lighthouse keeper, and she helped me find the contact numbers and websites that we'll need for that. I was also headed out on a Lighthouse Tour, and she gave me some tips that made that cruise even more enjoyable. The gift shop offers everything you could ever imagine in the form of lighthouses, and even a few things you probably never dreamed of.
Although small in size, it is filled with a good selection of information about the lighthouses and surrounding area. The gifts are art inspired and reasonable to purchase. A lovely addition to the city.
