We played Hawk Hollow after playing it's sister course, Eagle Eye. As our second round of the day, we pleasantly surprised to find Hawk Hollow compared nicely to it's premium companion course. It consists of 27 holes. It's character is more parkland than the Links style Eagle Eye. It has a lot of short but challenging par 4's and is very strategic in nature. You have to think your way around the course, but you can score well if you do so. They had aerated and sanded the greens the day before, but they were actually quite playable, and they did they right thing and offered a highly discounted price of $20 for 18 holes. We went away quite happy with the experience and would not hesitate to play the course again.
This facility was beautiful and the main dining room was very elegant. The view of the golf course was very nice and the Chapel has a very intimate feeling. Very nice location to take Bridal pictures. Plenty of space for the dance floor. The catering was delicious. Hawk Hollow was a wonderful venue for the wedding.
The Little Hawk course is not your ordinary putt-putt golf course. The website rightly describes it this way: "Only a handful of natural grass putting courses exist in the United States. One of only three in Michigan, this par 54 bentgrass putting course features undulating greens winding through picturesque landscaping. Always immaculately groomed, the variety of hole layouts provides a challenge for the beginner or expert." I often am leery of marketing such as that, but the course is very well groomed, and does provide a challenge to all.We played the course before when my boys were younger, but it was much more enjoyable now that they are teens. Other families on the course had younger kids and they seemed to enjoy themselves.
Played Hawk Hollow in early April 2013. It was one of the first days this year that you could golf without freezing. Considering how the weather has been, I was surprised that the course was in as good a shape as it was. A 27-hole course that can be played as a par 35 or 36 depending on which two nines you play. Course as 4 sets of tees with distances of 6974-yards, 6306, 5789 or 5078 for the 1st and 2nd 9s. A very nice course to play with very good club house facilities.
Maybe the weather, maybe due to lack of play. The tee sheet that day was empty. Made a 8am Sunday tee time with 3 days notice. WOW that never happened before. Recommend this course for any competitive golfer!
Hard for me to be less than enthusiastic about any course, given the state of the industry and nature of the game, but this was a steep disappointment in amenities, course conditions and layout, after playing Eagle Eye. This is one of those courses that promotes itself extensively, and when you finally do play, it's like, This is it?
Hawk Hollow is my personal favorite in the area. Eagle Eye is also owned by them and an excellent choice as well. Since opening Eagle Eye, I do not feel they take as good of care of Hawk Hollow though. It has a great layout with a combination of challenging and easy holes. There are 27 holes, but I recommend playing the original 18. The extra 9 that was added and is not of the same quality as the first 18. The pace of play is generally decent. They usually have both rangers and beverage carts.
