The 4-H Children's Garden is a must see. All ages can enjoy this unique garden. You can bring a lunch and watch your children discover all the fun. Wedding parties go the the children's garden for pictures. High school students gather here each spring to take Prom pictures. Families gather for portraits. There are many scheduled activities throughout the summer for young and old. A special place indeed.
We've been visiting this local treasure since our kiddo was just learning to walk. The Children's Garden is well planned sensory/interactive experience for both young and old alike!
We have visited these gardens before, but it has been several years. Wow, they have grown, expanded, and added a lot of nice features, like lighting, paved walkways, more benches. Great place to show your kids gardening practices, ideas. Just beautiful. Everything appeared to be in great shape. Lots of kids there, so glad to see parents bringing them out to experience such a place. Free! Parking close by. I did not see any restrooms, however.
attractive, lots of signs which name the plants. Adjacent to the magnificent MSU gardens. Activities for the little ones...especially the squirting frogs
This is a part of the MSU Horticultural gardens which contains a ton of lovely plants and flowers. Absolutely gorgeous to look at and a very romantic spot for a stroll with your significant other.
This is a fun place to take kids to play for an afternoon. There is no cost to visit. You could cover it all in 30 minutes or make an afternoon out of it.
On our visit last week, several exhibits were in need of repair. However, with the lengthy harsh winter we have experienced, I am sure the restoration crew is on the way. This exhibit is different each time. Empty-so heavenly. Crowded-so lively. Walk all of the paths and enjoy!
Beautiful garden for children of all ages. Creative gardens and landscaping. A great place for children to see what can be done with flowers and plants or to learn about them.
It's free. It's outdoors. It has nice spaces to play and explore. It has shade and a model train on Thursdays -- and a real live huge train that passes by on what I'm guessing is a daily basis. My son got a huge kick out of this. The playground structure tower is an excellent viewing platform. Thanks to 4-H for this excellent outdoor oasis in East Lansing!
You have to pay for parking via ticket machine. I remember if you didn't have exact coins it only took big bills and only gave you parking tokens back not money. (The Parking is why I took one star off).Once you get to the garden, let the kids go and follow them along the paths in a mini labyrinth, giant spiderweb, yellow brick road and lots of cool things to discover hidden all over the garden.
This is an excellent place for kids. Inspiring and creative! There is also a children's botanical garden nearby.
Whenever my nieces and nephews visited when my daughter was small, we'd go to the 4h children's garden at MSU. It has a model train, a pond with occasional turtles and frogs, a little maze, chimes that you jump on, a playground train to climb on, holes in the fence to watch real trains go by, little sculptures everywhere and of course flowers galore. I still like going there. There are bathrooms in the building nearby and more gardens to run around in. The children's area is somewhat enclosed, so you can let little ones run around at least somewhat.
Beginning in March with the opening of the Butterfly House in the building adjacent to the Children's Garden, you can have a wonderful experience for children as young as two years old. The garden itself features sculptures and a wonderful water feature. Familiar and unusual plants are grown in very child friendly spaces throughout the garden. It is a great way to spend from 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the ages of the children in attendance. From the Garden it is a short walk up Farm Lane to the MSU Dairy Store for ice cream to complete the visit.
Fun, free, and child (of all ages) friendly. Enjoy the chimes. Metered parking nearby though I walk to the garden.
Every child in East Lansing should be familiar with this garden! It's so colorful and hands on and so much for the little kids and big kids (at heart) to see and explore/experience. The Teddy Bear Picnic that is held there every year sponsored by MSUFCU is a perfect opportunity to explore the gardens and have a great day filled with food, fun and many activities!
