It’s no secret that my husband is a gamer – so when it was time for a date night Zap Zone was an obvious choice! There are various locations throughout metro Detroit but we chose the one in Farmington and had an absolute blast! This place has everything: go carts, laser tag, glo golf, bumper cars and TONS of arcade games. As soon as we got there, we hit up the glo golf and got ready to play 18 holes. We were so impressed by the design of the course – it was totally indoors but they did such a creative job you forgot you were in a huge warehouse. It was a battle until the end but Dan ended up beating me by just a few strokes.Currently they are offering a great Groupon! It includes mini golf or laser tag for two people and a glow accessory for just $13! All of the other activities are of average price – click HERE for a full list. The only thing that can get a little pricey are the addicting arcade games! Not that they cost a ton to play – but if you are competitive like us, sometimes it’s hard to stop ;)We visited Zap Zone on a Tuesday night and the place was practically empty. So there was no line and no waiting. On the weekends it does fill up, but like I said – the place is HUGE so I’m sure no matter how busy, everyone can find something to have fun with!
Well the word has gotten out that this is THE birthday spot for kids. NOT! Dumb games. Overpriced prizes. No nostalgia games for adults. Not enough seating. They added bumper cars to gouge for more money and the mini bowling is the worst. No reason to visit unless you have to. You can win tickets, but you can only redeem them for the worst kind of 5 cent junk. I hate zap zone. I'd rather spend the money at Zap Zone Utica. At least I don't feel suckered every time I go there!
My daughter chose this location for grandson's birthday...he's 3. While it was interesting and captivating with all the sights and sounds, this is not a place for children under 5. The skill set of the games is geared towards the older child, without adult supervision. There's miniature golf, bowling, a bounce area, laser tag (great for team building), and a variety of games that you win tickets at for various points and/or levels. The party rooms are not that large and I was disappointed with the service given. It was way to regimented for a child's party and didn't allow for enough time for the children to really enjoy themselves. Just when they got going in the bounce area, it was time to stop. The food, pizza and pop, were brought in while everyone was out and so when it was time to eat, or I should say when the children came back, the pizza was tepid. Our hostess was pleasant but not overly attentive towards my grandson and he was the birthday boy! It's like Dave & Buster's, but for children & teens.
My daughter chose to have her Sweet 16 birthday party here. All 37 teenagers had a blast. It was reasonably priced. The party room hostess was very helpful. The pizza was decent. I forgot the candles for the cake and guess what...Zap Zone has candles. Lol
