We went yesterday with our 2 year old grandson. The area is all on one floor making it nice for most youngsters. For a small place it has many separate areas to play and learn based on your children's ages. For the 2 year old it was a two hour adventure. There were party's going on while we were there which is a great idea. Go in the daytime. Not the greatest part of Flint.
Very entertaining for children under 10 yrs old. My grandchildren love to spend several hours here. There are permanent attractions where the children join others to pretend including a dressup stage with a camera and TV and seating for an audience, a post office, pizzaria, playhouse, firestation & truck amoung other sets... An area where a changing scenerio encourages imaginative play. Please check their site online before visiting. Also, check the calendar to see what groups are scheduled to visit before planning your visit, it can be very crowded if schools or other groups have bus trips scheduled! There are also outdoor activities schedled. For the cost ;you receive alot of value and the kids always have a good time.
The Flint Children's Museum is old and not pretty, but the children have a great time going through all the interactive activities. There are many cool things for children to learn, play, socialize and meet new friendsI would say the activities are geared for children ages 1-12I recommend checking out the website" thefcm, org. Most of the exhibits are constant, They do however have a rotating exhibit called the discovery zone that changes every 3 months. You can also rent the facility for birthday parties. You pay $62.00 for the room and $4.00 a child and $1.00 an adult for the museum for 2 and 1/2 hours. does not include any food. they have a discount contract with louigis pizza or you can bring your own or have delivered from other area restaurant's. You are best off bringing your own decorations, plates, cups and drinks. There are a choice of three rooms based on party size. Book your party about 2 months in advance if you can depending on month of year it is.I rated FCM 3 stars because my kids were raised in the Lansing area and we frequented The Impression 5 museum which is just outstanding. Hard to compare, but worthwhile visiting for this area.
We took our great grandkids age 8 and 6. They loved every minute of the visit. The 6 year old loved the climbing wall. The 8 year old loved the post office and the puppet theater. This great grandma loved the pizza parlor where the brick oven is so cool. I think we spent the most time there - the kids put on aprons, waited on us, made pizzas, set the bistro table then brought the pizzas out. Fun, fun, fun.The bones bike was so great. I could see the light bulb go off in their eyes when they actually understood the skeleton reflection. We will go again.
I have been there with my baby she was playing and so happy is you go there with your family your kids will be so happy and they spend wonderful time
Took my 2 year old son to the Flint Children's Museum (FCM). This place is amazing. It's not large like our hometown children's museum, the National Children's Museum, but it is sooooo much better. FCM is creative, innovative, educational and fun. The outside garden had water games, sand, a vegetable garden, hula hoops, and was just relaxing!!! This is a Must for young and older children. !! We lucked out and visited on $2 Tuesdays. Look forward to visiting again!!
We LOVE this "museum"! My kids are now 9 & 6 and still love going here. What I like best is the focus on imaginative play--a kid-sized grocery store, pizza parlor, stage & fire engine just to name a few! We have easily spent 3 hours here, especially when friends have joined us. Bring a lunch (nothing close by to grab a bite at) and eat in their small dining area. Check out the outdoor space in the summer months as they have a large garden growing & often have scheduled science experiments with staff going on. Plus outdoor toys (hula hoops, streamers, etc.) to run around & play with. Just a wonderful place all around!!Note: If you buy a family membership to the MI Science Center (Detroit) or Cranbrook Institute of Science (only $75/year!) your admission to the Flint Childrens Museum is free!
We took our 3 year old grandson today. Had a great time. So many things to do and pretend and play with. We only had 1-1/2hours, probably could have used twice that much time but we ran into lunch and nap time! Many hands on toys. The favorite was the undersea room with the hide and seek noodles and the octopus mouth. Great outside picnic/play area all fenced and some shaded tables. You may bring a picnic lunch, we didn't know. Some exhibits for older kids too, a stage for pretend programs and a princess carriage. Well priced at 6.00 a piece. Age group 2-6 best.
I took my 11 year old and 5 year old....they both had a great time and didnt want to leave!I love encouraging the imaginative, and educational play. Prices are great, facility is clean, and the kids just had a great time in a scaled down town. They had a stage with curtains, and costumes, a grocery store with little carts, and cadh registers, a post office, deliver truck, fire truck, play house, and a ton more!So worth checking out, you can play with the kids or take a book and let them play.
We have a 2 1/2 yr old and a 10 month old. We couldn't have asked for more. They played and had a good time. There aren't a ton of exhibits, but it seems just the right amount for the age it's aimed at. They also have an outdoor garden which you can work and pick in season, and we got to take home a couple carrots. There's a toddler area specifically for those under 3 as well, so even babies aren't left out. For such a cheap price, we got a great amount of entertainment.
My daughter loved going here when she was younger. Price is a little steep, but as long as she had fun that was all the mattered! Some staff can be a little rough for young kids, but not too bad. Would suggest for kids 2-6, as my daughter got closer to 7 the novelty wore off.
My niece is 5, she loved it here. I will say it seems small but enough to entertain a young child for hours. They need to update, some toys are very old and the costumes are few. The rock wall was her favorite. I liked the music room best myself.
We were stuck in a rut, with nothing fresh to do, so we decided to try the Flint Children's Museum. I checked the website first, because we have our own children's museum here in Saginaw. It looked "similar, but different". So, we made the road trip, and it was well worth it.It was similar only in that it was an awesome indoor playground. The kids jumped right in and had so much fun! Even though the age-recommendation was up to age 10, my 12-year old loved it too, and interacted in imaginative play with his younger siblings. There was a lot of ways to play, but our favorites were the mini-grocery store (super clever!), pizza parlor, and fire truck. Although I do not have an infant, I was impressed with the infant area (reserved for kids under 3), and wished I could go play in that room too! The museum was very clean, very kid friendly, and very safe. After awhile, my husband and I just sat back and "enjoyed the show". Our kids as well as the others were absorbed in imaginative play for hours, from delivering mail from the post office to the businesses, to taking turn running the businesses, and to being firefighters. Very nice outing when you are bored or it's too cold or hot outside!
Lots of fun for the little ones ( and the not so little ones, too). The back room tends to stay fresh and change every so often.
My daughter loved the Flint Children's Museum 25 years ago, and my granddaughter loves it today! Each time my granddaughter visits me we take a trip to the Flint Children's Museum for an afternoon filled with fun. There are areas for children of toddler years on up through late elementary. The museum features science activities disguised as fun, dress up and theater props and stage, and the favorites of make believe in the post office, grocery, and pizza parlour, among others. The gift shop is also a great place to visit for something that is a little different and unique. The children's museum is a gem in Flint.
