I played the course on Sunday 7th sept 2014 along with a group of friends. I very disappointed in the way this course is run. During the round the (17th )we were spoken to by the ranger about speeding up play. We had not fallen behind at all and were spoken to in a very rude and arrogant way by the individual. This course has has a reputation of being good, well I am extremely surprised they employ such a poor individual as an employee. I would suggest that the HR department take more care in who is employed. The ranger seemed to forget golfers are paying customers and civility costs nothing. In the bar afterwards it was evident he had been rude and arrogant to many people during the day. I would not recommend playing this course until they realize its the people as well as the course that make an enjoyable experience.

I flew out from Colorado to have a weekend trip and a round of golf with my buddies. The first couple holes were great, the weather was perfect, the course conditions were beautiful. It was a Saturday morning and our group of 4 were playing a scramble to keep the pace going but still enjoy a good time. Half way through the course the ranger was putting preasure on us to speed up. We couldn't possibly play any faster! We picked our pace up but the ranger parked his cart nearby and watched our every stroke. We completely felt annoyed by his behavior and stalker like actions that it began ruining our time. I walked up to the ranger and explained to him that I didn't want to be mean but he was being rude and we were not having a good time because he kept staring at us. He began to argue with me on the course as if it was our fault, he told us we were taking extra shots (which I promise we never took one extra shot) and said we gabbed between all of our shots. I'm sorry I came to have fun with friends and family I haven't seen in 6 months. He then said he would leave us alone only if we caught up to the group ahead of us, almost demanding it. At this point our whole group was pissed and the rest of our time was ruined and all we did was complain about the customer service. If you want to be rushed through the course and not have any fun, no time to stop to use the bathroom, dont talk to the beverage cart and order drinks then this is your course. By the way, when we finished we have one group of 4 behind us and then it was slow there after that.

The course is stunning and beautiful, however the experience was ruined by the lurking ranger who followed us from hole to hole and he kept pushing us at such pace that we were unable to purchase drinks from the beverage cart let alone focus on playing. I don't recommend until managment does something to control the behavior of its employees

What a great experience! Beautiful tees, fairways and billiard table smooth greens. Riding a cart thru the awesome white pines and hardwoods (starting to turn orange & red in early fall colours) made it a memorable afternoon. Worth twice the money! I shall return. - Canadian review

My sister was just married here and they are fantastic. The food was very good and everyone commented on how it didn't taste like wedding food. Beautiful setting and a great friendly staff who will help you in anyway they can.

I played this course about ten years ago and recently played it again while on vacation in central Michigan. No doubt it is a top tier course with a storied reputation. Pohlcat has a beautiful layout in the rolling woods near mount pleasant. However, to a seasoned golfer this course looks like its a bit past its prime. The rough is unkempt and crazy tall with ball eating pucker grass. i enjoy a challenging course but this borders on neglect. The out of control pucker Gives the appearance of poor maintenance, rather than just being strategically challenging. The fairways have too many divots and the greens, while fast and undulating, are inconsistent from hole to hole. Despite the above comments it is still a great course and at $50 a tremendous value.

This course is very golfer friendly depending on which tee you play, forgiving for shorter hitters and staff is very accommodating. Would definitely play again.
