This place seems to be trapped in time – in a good way. With apples galore a quaint restaurant and apparently some of the best cinnamon donuts available in western Michigan. Pick up a few gallons of unpasteurized local cider. In fact you can even see it being made through the service window. You could easily spend your whole day there. Is there something for the adults? Yes there is, they are now producing wine and hard ciders. The tasting room is quite nice although a little cramped. You'll want to be patient or go on an off time to have a great experience.Tip: The Cyser is particularly good.
Whenever we get to GR, our kids insist of donuts and cider and some apple to go home from Robinette's. And we almost always find a treasure in the Apple Haus gift shop too!
Nice ride in a horse drawn hay wagon, pick some apples fresh from the tree, then relax with a warm donut and cup of hot cider... perfect.
We have been visiting Robinette's since the 90's and went back this past weekend on a gorgeous Autumn day. The place is still beautiful, but if you're looking for a great experience for little ones, (5 and under) this really isn't the place. Granted, we went on a Saturday when it was very busy, but they don't seem to be able to coordinate the movement of people very well here, whether on foot or in cars. Be careful parking and walking from the parking lots to the place, especially with little ones, and if you can, go on a week day, when it's less of a madhouse. We arrived to find an incredibly long line to get through the bakery/cafe to buy a donut or a sandwich. With the volume of people who attend each year and the outrageous prices charged for most things, one would think they'd figure out a way to improve the setup to move people through faster. We decided to tour everything else they had to offer and go back to the bakery later. The winery - whatever. Apparently I'm one of the few people in the area who don't think wine is the most amazing thing on earth and question what place a winery has at a "family oriented" attraction. The hay ride was fun. The corn maze wasn't appropriate for our 3 year old, so we skipped it, and she didn't want to go on the jumping pillow because bouncing with the other kids was a bit too rough for her taste. We looked through the gift barn and had fun playing with the toys, but when I attempted to buy a beautiful scarf I found, I got cut in front of because I apparently wasn't standing in the correct place to be in line. After waiting 5 minutes for the two women who line jumped to buy tickets for various different attractions for several age groups of kids, I gave up and put the scarf back. It would help to have a designated place to buy attraction tickets, instead of combining attraction sales with gift sales. We tried to watch the cider making in the apple room, but with so many people wanting to see, we couldn't get a good view of what was going on. And looking around to see what was offered, I declined to pay their prices for the apples and the cider. It's half the price at Meijer down the road. (And yes, I get it - you're a captive audience and it's an attraction, but to me, apples are apples. Why would I pay double because the place is attempting to give me the warm fuzzies?)After seeing everything, the line for the bakery was even longer yet, so we left and drove down the street to Chili's and were served our lunch by the time we would have gotten up to the counter to order at Robinette's.All in all, just an average time. Much better for adults than kids.
We were visiting from South Texas for Art Prize and had to visit Robinette's! One of us grew up in Grand Rapids, but the other is from South Texas and had never been to an apple orchard or ever had apple cider...Robinette's did not disappoint!!! What a great time! There was a long line to get in, but it was worth it! The donuts were great! We tried the cold and hot ciders... Then, we did the wine tasting! This is so worth it! Do this if you are over 21! It is great! $5 is the cost for a couple, and you get Robinette's wine glasses included in that price - we have ours on our bar in South Texas now, and love it! We ordered a few bottles from there, and the quality was good and the prices fair.Do not miss Robinette's! It is that worth it!
The apple house and winery is a complex. It includes the winery, a general store kind of place which sells stuff and there is a seperate building which sell snacks, food items, and baked goods. In addition to that, there was a Halloween corn maze and a sign that indicated you could pick your own apples. With all those options, you guessed it, we headed straight to the wine tasting. There was a very personable young lady at the counter and her first words were, "I need to see your I.D." 50 years ago, this might have been flattering but today, at 75, you must be kidding. Long story short, she was not kidding and I had to hike a considerable distance back to the car to retrieve my wallet. No harm done, she was young enough not to understand "reasonable exceptions" and in all honesty, I probably needed the exercise. My bad. The wine tasting was a bargain. The cost was $5 per couple for 6 tastings each and they gave you the glass. They has a good selection of wine choices and we wound up buying 2 bottles. We retreated to the bakery where we purchased a monster bag of baked goods and 2 cups of cold cider. God bless America!!
We went here to get some apple donuts, apple cider and turnovers. It was a nice place. They had a lot of different things to do. The one thing we came for, the apple donuts, they did not have. We guessed that might be a Minnesota thing.
Really fun orchard and shop. Spend some time picking your own apples and be sure to get a donut. We picked a bag of apples and ate them as we continued our road trip up north. The apples were some of the best I've ever had. You can sample all of their apples and they have various sizes of bags you can buy if you don't want to pick your own or don't have the time. We stopped by on a Friday morning and it was crowded, but not crazy - maybe a 20 minute wait.
This was our first time at this orchard. It was a nice place, however VERY crowded. A line out the door for donuts. They were tasty but not sure if I would wait 30 mins for them. There was also a lack of signage. I befriend a lady in line and she told us where everything was. No maps, just a pole with stuff in general direction. The wine tasting was fun. They left you keep the glass and if you bring it back you get free wine tasting. They had a very good variety. They had a lot of seating outside and inside where you could eat your doughnuts. Maybe go on a less busy day.
Made a short stop here. Wine tasting was fun and good. Bar tenders very friendly and personable. But most of all the donuts were sooo good. Also if you keep your wine tasting glass and bring it back you get free wine tasting whenever you want. Nice perk if you're local!
This was my first time at Robinette's, although it was to do the wine-tasting... The tasting room is very nice. A working Christmas village display set-up. Lots to look at and notice there. A selection of wine logos on shirts/sweatshirts and Michigan logo apparel to purchase. The wines were all very good, very fresh, clean palate and crisp tasting without the lingering aftertaste alot of wines have.. Quite a nice giftshop also upstairs...With a variety of jewlery, handmade purses, and assorted knick-knack type things. Also went in the bakery area, and the fruit available to purchase in the cooler...The peaches i bought are so sweet and delicious...Plenty of picnic tables and plenty of room to have kids run about and play as well outside...I would definetely and will take any of my out of town guests to visit here...I was quite pleased with everything..
This is a fruit stand, wine seller, bakery, and lunch restaurant all wrapped into one. The dining area is a bunch of picnic tables set up inside the old barn. It is very clean and bright. Fresh baked pies, cookies, and cider donuts are available to purchase and there is a lunch menu where on can order a fresh lunch made to order. Most lunches include homemade muffins. Yummy. Attached is the fruit stand selling fresh fruits of the season and across the parking lot is the winery and gift shop. My wife and I make it a point to eat here and get some baked goods whenever we are in town. The pies are the best you'll get anywhere!
We have been here in both July and October. In July we sampled donuts (german chocolate and maple bacon) as well as cold cider. Yum! In October we sampled apples and hot cider. Absolutely wonderful! We left with apples galore. Check it out!
This unique establishment has a flair for fun! The merchandise will keep you smiling and the wine tasting will keep you buying! I thoroughly enjoyed my stop here. Two levels of unique, one of a kind gifts and delicious wine, too. What more could a gal ask for,....ohhhh chocolate. It was there! The ladies who waited on me were delightful and fun. I ended up buying a variety of their wines because I liked them all!
My grandparents live in the area and when I was little and we would fly up during Christmas to visit. I remember going for some cross country skiing but being more interested in the doughnuts and cider. After many years away I visited with my husband because I saw that they had added a winery. We came for a tasting of the wine and hard cider and left with a few of there products. And of course my husband had to stop by the bakery I loved as a child for a Maple Bacon Doughnut!I didn't give it 5 stars because the prices on the wine are reasonable but other items can be a bit steep.I'm sure in the fall its worth it!
