We were in town celebrating our anniversary, and decided that a comedy club sounded like a perfect night-time activity. There is a two drink minimum, which isn't as awful as it sounds, it really isn't too expensive. Seating options are a little weird, but we were comfortable regardless along the wall (Booth wall with a small table in front). Lucky for us, our show wasn't too packed, so we weren't stuck with anyone next to us. I don't have claustrophobia, but would've felt smooshed had someone besides my boyfriend sitting next to me. The drinks were good, the comedy was even better. Our headliner was Ian Bagg, and I haven't laughed that hard in years. It was the highlight of our night, and we will visit Dr Grin's the next time we are in town. I hope you'll check it out..we had so much fun!
I was shocked that the price for tickets were only $15 on a Saturday. One opening MC type person told jokes, and was funny and two comedians spent a lot of time and were VERY funny and enjoyable. Good size room, not too big and the comedians shook the patrons hands as they left after the show. I would recommend eating dinner in one of the restaurants at the B.O.B. and then going to the comedy club, which is in the same building. The B.O.B. has a nice atmosphere, and was busy, but not overcrowded.
This is one of my first comedy club experiences and I had a blast. The headliner was actually not the most memorable, the guy who opened up was hilarious and had us in stitches. The two-drink minimum helps everyone;) Enjoy yourself and drive safely.
We arrived a little more than 1/2 hr before showtime as instructed. Our seating options kind of threw us off - we could sit along the edge at tables for 2 (there were 2 of us), or in the front row. We opted for along the edge, not realizing that there was a post directly in the sight line to the middle of the stage. The seating was snug but not overly so. I do not know why we were not permitted to sit in the empty seats in the middle toward the back. There is a 2 drink minimum and they do serve non-alcoholic beverages also, including bottled water. The introduction of the first act was too long and not all that funny, but the first act got a lot of laughs and the headliner kept everyone loose and laughing. It was an enjoyable evening.
My husband and I live in Grand Rapids, and this is one of our up favorite places in the whole city to go!The drinks are very well done (pricing is pretty standard), the comedians are usually very funny (every once in a while we find one that doesn't resonate with us), and the atmosphere is amazing. The comedy club is located on the 3rd floor of the B.O.B (big old building), and when you're done, you can walk around to multiple different bars all in the same building. This is without a doubt one of our favorite date night places.
Incredible building, nice staff, and awesome atmosphere! We were there for the Kyle Dunnigan show, and after the show just walked around admiring the BOB, (which stands for the Big Old Building, and I think that's awesome!) If you're in the area, you've gotta check it out! You will have an awesome time. Many floors for different settings, live music, open mic, great drinks! Will definitely be back!
The waitress was very good. I can't believe how well she was doing for as many tables as she had. Great service! Food and drinks were very good. There were 3 comedians. Of course they were funny. Great show. I would recommend.
Has been a while since we've been to a comedy club so we were looking to Friday Night Live at the BOB with at group of 10. Depending on the restaurant / menu you can get a three course dinner and ticket to the show (8:00 or 10:30) for $20 (Monkey Bar) to $35 (Judson's). Grins is on the third floor and venue is typical for a comedy club. Servers were quick with drinks, but the acts were the obvious highlight...and all three comedians were very good, not just the headliner. Would like to make a return trip very soon.
