orion marine pontoon rentals & historical boat tours

I reserved a pontoon boat for saturday(10AM - 6PM) to celebrate my birthday. This was the best boat i've ever been in and had a decent price. Me and 7 other friends got on the boat around 11AM as we were a lilttle late. It was a perfect day to be on a boat with friends, drinks and food. There was lotta storage place and the boats are very nice and classy:) I love the bar side of the boat with 4 bar stools. The staff was very friendly. Scott, one of the staff person was nice enough to give us gas and ice for free as it was my birthday:) And also gave us an extra half hour as 2 of my friends joined us around 4PM. The lake is large for an inland lake and not very weedy especially in the popular swim areas.Overall, I had a wonderful birthday and would definitely come back again to this place.

The staff at Orion Marine Rentals were overly friendly and provided us with everything we forgot to bring! Todays day trip was spontaneous, but it turned out great because Riva offered us extra towels, a cooler, and even an auxiliary cord to play music out on the water. The boat was extremely nice and was more than we needed. After giving us the rules and showing us the boat, she gave us recommendations on where to drop anchor and where we could go fast. Overall, the day was excellent and could not have had a better experience with the rental. Would recommend this to anyone!!

The husband and I booked a Friday pontoon rental to celebrate our anniversary. We came in early for a full-day rental. Tucked back behind the marina, you go up to the little boathouse by the pontoons to wait. They had a really big and clean porta-potty there for use. Dennis came up and got us checked in, had the beautiful brand new pontoon ready to go. Huge! Bar with barstools, plenty of lounging space and a sweet captains chair. We went over the safety check (about 5-10 minutes) and signed the paperwork. He told us about the lake, where to go to hang out, anchor, dock for pizza and basically the rules of the lake. There was a great map on the front door of the pontoon and a phone number to call if we had questions and to call when we were headed back in. A fill-up at the gas dock and Dennis hopped off and we were off! Lake Orion has lots of inlets and channels so it made for a fun "house watching" tour. We stopped in a couple channels to fish. Baby bluegill were aplenty. :) We did swing down to the south side of the lake to use a bathroom and order pizza but it was raining at that point and the bathroom was unavailable so we headed back to the dock. We called ahead, Dennis was ready for us. We only had the boat out for a couple hours when it started raining and we came back in. Dennis suggested that we go grab a bite to eat and then decide if we wanted to try for the second half of the day. We did (lunch at Sagebrush Cantina - also awesome!) but decided that since it was still raining, we'd go ahead and call the half day. This put our experience over the top. Dennis was so incredible. He decided to give us a complete do-over with a full makeup day and no charge for the gas we used. That kind of generosity doesn't happen with big chains or businesses that have high school kids doing all their customer service. This guy was all-in, and truly wanted us to have a perfect experience. We were so impressed and touched by this care, we are telling all our friends about them. :)We will go back for our makeup day and will hopefully book another trip with friends or family. We feel so lucky to have found this place.

Don't want the troubles of owning and caring for a boat but wish you had a way out on the water? This is definitely the NICEST boat you will rent and possibly the cheapest too! You can bring 10+ friends depending on the boat and if everyone is splitting the cost it is very cheap. The boats are brand new, spotless and comfortable. They com with a map of the lake, brief instructions and a full tank of gas to get you out to nice areas to swim. Tubes are also available to rent that you can pull behind the boat and drag your friends or kids around the lake on. There is a party store on the lake that is easy to get to but it is always better to bring coolers stocked with your drinks and lots of food. You get the boat for the whole day might as well stay on it. Orion marine is the only pontoon rental place in the area that I know of and thankfully they are very friendly and helpful and the boats are great. The lake is large for an inland lake and not very weedy especially in the popular swim areas.
