I like a mild red wine, this is my favorite. Look for the yellow label with the state of Michigan. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Leelanau Wine Cellars in Omena is one of the best places to go for wine tasting. They have great staff that are very knowledgeable, free tasting, fair pricing and great views but the wine is truly amazing and speaks for itself! Port is my favorite! We frequent Leelanau Wine Cellars a lot and recommend it to anyone who is a true wine lover!
This was the first stop of our day and by far our favorite. The staff was very knowledgeable and suggested many different wines for our us to taste. We've been fans of the Winter White for quite some time but came home with two full cases. The staff combined with reasonable prices, free tasting and some of our favorite wine made this a wonderful experience.
I'm sure this place gets very crowded, but the best experience will come on quiet days. We were there this past Friday around noon and had a great time. The building itself is very cool and modern and situated right on the bay, offering amazing views through their floor to ceiling windows. The tasting is free and appeared to be unlimited. The woman who ran our tasting was great. She was knowledgeable, kind, and very generous with her wine pouring. In all, the two of us were there for about an hour, tried probably 15 wines combined, enjoyed the spectacular views, and purchased a very reasonably priced bottle before we left. We will be back.
first I have to say we always do wine tours when we go up north and this is the best winery I've ever been to! The guy helping us was amazing and gives u quite an education on wine. The wine is amazing! Too many favorites to name but I bought the spiced wine!! So delicious heated up
The wine tasting was free. Something that you just do not find that often any more. Be sure to take a few moments and walk around beautiful views.
Been buying heir wine for the last couple years and was cited o finally visit. Staff was very friendly and fun. Tasting was free, which was unusual for the area wineries. Love their late harvest Riesling and sweet red. Picked up some sangria too!
We stopped here to purchase their Raspberry wine that we had tried earlier downstate. We got to the checkout to purchase the several bottles we had picked out and the clerk asked us if we had tasted them, when we said we hadn't, she shut down her line and told us that we needed to try them first! She came over to the tasting counter to help us and suggested several others which were so good and we changed our minds on several of them. I wish I could remember her name becAuse she was so awesome! Great wine and prices are reasonable!,
One of our top winery visits, topped only by Blue Heron in Indiana-very passionate and informative about the wine--- spent nearly 2 hrs there, had a great time, and left with a case of their wine
Beautiful tasting room and good wines to sample. They have an excellent variety of wines - especially like the Witches Brew to enjoy on a perfect Michigan fall day or evening.
Go,please, and enjoy! Words cannot describe that place! I love that are and the wine is so good and so many restaurants. Please don't worry! Enkoy!
I'm so glad that we stopped into this winery. The tasting room overlooked the beautiful lake, and their wines were amazing. We tried the Riesling, Summer Sunset, Winter White, Winter White Peach Chill, Cranberry, and Blueberry. We were only disappointed by the blueberry, as it tasted more like plastic than fruit. I would highly recommend stopping in for a free tasting. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly, the view is amazing, and the wines were delicious!
Beautiful location, inviting atmosphere, and great wines. The free tastings here are the right way to go, being able to sample several wines we purchased several bottles here knowing we were buying what we really liked.
I am first to admit I am not a wine expert, I like what I like and that is still mostly sweet wines. In 3 visits to MI wine area in Leelanau, this is always my favorite AND most affordable. They have a wide range and are reasonably priced so I load up a box! This last time I tried the peach infused winter white wine and it was great (try a slice of peach in it for summer). Unlike most wineries now, they do not charge for tastings. When trying the rasberry fruit wine, loved the fact that they have dark chocolate bites to have with it (goes well together). View of Omena bay from the tasting room is beautiful.
We visited several wineries and Leelanau was by far the best. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, there was no charge for the tasting and there was a wonderful view of the bay.
