Multiple viewing locations. Beautiful views from Oscoda to M65 along River Road. Autumn colors were ablaze. Don't forget to see Lumberman's Monument, Iargo Springs, Canoers Monument.

Enjoyed the beautiful scenery. All vistas were well marked and easy to get to. Especially liked the Lumberman's Memorial.

A great place to stop and take a deep breath. Beautiful views of the AuSable river! There are two different viewing decks and its well worth it to visit both!

If you start at the park by the high school, its a gentle uphill ride out,and an easy return. The trip to the lumberman's monument is 27 miles with several nice stopping points. Swimming is allowed (but the current is fast) at one scenic overview. I think the whole thing would be about 37. The county chamber needs to consider a bike trail, using the adjacent parks as possible. It could even be an opportunity for bike rentals by a local merchant.

Lots to see and good places to fish too. Handicap fishing access at the Foote Dam was exceptional. Wheel chair access is not a problem at all for good fishing. Being in a wheelchair totally limits some of the places you can go to fish. The Hov-a-round they tell you goes anywhere! hahahaahhaha, thanks to kind folks I did, have to spend the nite out there.A very scenic road that goes through forested areas areas along the Au Sauble river that is a must see. Take the time to enjoy the area whether it's canping down the road or just a day visit. Please enjoy like before your life is limited!

It's pretty drive and not too long. It's amazing in the fall. While taking the drive make sure to stop at Lumbermans Monument.

We stayed at a campground down the road over the weekend. We stopped here and walked the 300 steps! The views and springs were well worth the exercise. We even brought our 3 dogs. It was very pretty and calm. The area is well kept and litter free. I took plenty of pictures. =)

The River Road is a national scenic byway of about 20 miles. It has several stops with a short walk to beautiful views and hiking trails. Any time of year is a beautiful scene. Each season has its own tranquility and beauty. The lumberman's monument has a museum and displays also. Take the time to drive this road.

We are fortunate enough to live nearby and drive here all the time. While we don't often stop (it's that were at home thing) we take most of our visiters here. While most of the overlooks are nice, Iargo springs area is not to be missed.

We drove this route a couple of times across our stay in the area because we thoroughly enjoyed it and there are enough stops and overlooks to spread it out across a couple of days rather then doing it all in one go. We did visit during the government shut down which has been effecting the stops - restrooms are closed and bins are locked shut in the National Forest stops - say Westgate Overlook and Iagro Springs. Absolutely amazing views especially of the fall colours so taking a camera with you is a must! The drive down to Cooke Dam is certainly worth it and has to be one of my favorite stops along the drive - the river is so peaceful there and the views are delightful.

Beautiful drive with a lot of places to stop the car, get out, enjoy the view of the Au Sable River, and take pictures.

Loved the stops, awesome walkways, views of the river. Was surprised that the fed shut down is impacting the site. Rest rooms are locked as well as the garbage pick up due to the federal shut down. Glad we could still walk the paths.

My husband and I were staying in Oscoda and found that largo Springs was a hidden beauty. As we were walking down(294 steps), a gentleman who was walking up told us that largo springs was a stopping point for the Indians in the area. They would stop for water there and it was a mystical, sacred place for them. Very cool to imagine the history as you visit this serene area. Has beautiful flowing streams with boardwalks that traverse through the woods. We also stopped at Lumberman's monument. There are steps there too which lead down to the water. We didn't realize there was a building down there to visit, so go all the way down. There are plenty of places to stop on the steps to catch your breath since it's about 290 steps down.

This is a nice windy road that passes by many scenic areas. The drive is great by motorcycle! There are several place to stop and see the river or areas to park and hike. There is also a campground on the route.
