Nice area to go walking and camping in, but I don't recommend the beach, its gross. But there is fishing and cannoning there. There are things for the kids to do to. They have little adventure trails for kids to learn about flowers and animals. It's a nice weekend getaway.
We went camping over there and stayed on camping site #20. The staff was very friendly at the register and the park is ok. Campsite review:A little far away from the restrooms. The restrooms were ok and showers were with hot water (no issues). There is no place to wash dishes or clean lots of dishes.I was disappointing to have lots of dog poop in our campsite to the point of not walking on the grass for a while. This is the first time ever after camping for years that we found a site in this conditions. We had very loud neighbors too and they did not stop until late at night 12 AM.We walked around and look for other campsites for the future. There are nice camping spots in the park and I wished I could have known some details on the location in advance.LakeBeach was good and in great shape for kids. Restrooms/showers were clean.Camping is not to far from a wal-mart and other restaurants in case of getting supplies. Prices of ice and firewood at the park were really good.
My family and I try to stay at, at least one new park each year. This year it was Sleepy Hollow and it did not disappoint. The park was clean, we had a nice sized site (love the pictures on the State website), clean beach and great weather. I saw the bathrooms get cleaned multiple times per/day. Unfortunately there are just some rude people in the world who think its acceptable to make a mess and not clean it up. We had a blast on the mountain biking trails and enjoyed the star gazing at night. We live almost two hours away and will make this trip again.
Love this park. Grew up here and worked here back when it was a larger park but it still has a lot of great attributes. Wonderful hiking, boat launch, and camping.
We enjoyed our time here at Sleepy Hollow. We were on site #30. Our 35 ft power cord was the perfect length. No additional cord was needed. The majority of sites were also wooded and secluded. Even some of the sites right next to the bathroom had a good barrier of trees so that you do not feel like you are right next to the bathroom. There were a lot of great sites that were open to the site behind them which would be perfect for camping with friends. From site #30 it was a short bike ride to the beach, disc golf course and playground. The playground was better than most, with a new play set and cool swings that even the bigger kids liked. This was our first attempt at disc golf. It was a beautiful, well maintained course with pencil and scorecards available. The camp office had discs available for sale, which is a nice touch. We didn't notice a lot of visible park rangers. Over 3 days and 2 nights we only saw them once at the beach and once at the bathrooms. There was never any issues with loud or disruptive campers but I was surprised that they were not more visible. We had a wonderful time and would recommend this campground if you are looking for a secluded sites with lots to do for all age groups.
this state park is very very nice. lots of trees, lots of activities, lots of things to do. clean and a nice place for your dogs. special beach for fido. almost every campsite is cozy, plenty big enough and very shaded. we love it.
Beautiful campground with asphalt pads and lots of grass. Trees and shrubs provide lots of privacy if you choose those sites. We had three families camping together...two of us had adjoining sites with a huge grassy area for the kids (and adults) to play ball and ladder golf. Nice beach and picnic area with a large bath house.
My mom started taking all six of us kids here since we were little. When you have that many kids and a limited budget, this was the best place to go and have fun. We would do anything to get to go there, all of us!! lol My brother and his family still live in the area and they are still going there all of the time. When my other brother comes up to visit with his family, they go there too. He is into Frisbee golf, and they have wonderful tournaments there. There is something for everybody and I just wish I lived closer so I could go as often as the rest do.
one of the better places to hang with the family in mid michigan. peaceful and clean. good amount of trails to ride bikes
I was introduced to Sleepy Hollow through an affiliation with MSU. We talked extensively to the park manager and I loved the energy here. It's a great place to go and get away to camp even if you are local because the bonus is you don't have to sell your first-born for gas money to get there.
I didn't camp there, just used the mountain bike trails. They are quite long and a lot of fun, highly recommended. Camp sites seemed nice and from what I was told reasonable on pricing.
This state park has camping, a beach, hunting, canoeing, trails and much more. This isn't the best beach but one that I go to because it is close to where I live and the kids enjoy it. There are a lot of fish and minow on the beach front.
The park has no remarkable features. The lake is entirely a no wake zone, so only for fishing or swimming. For horseback riders, there are lots of amenitites. Also disc golf. There are some bald eagles in residence and swans. I live nearby and drive through frequently looking for birds.
all they had back then was just a few tables, not much more than that. now they have don's john s and concession stands, nice dock to fish off of
I like to come here to run along the trails or take a quick dip in the lake when the summer heat gets to me. It's a short drive from Lansing, and also has a nice disk golf course.
