Along the Waterfront, this is a fabulous place to ride your bike (owned or rented at the onsite bike shop)...or run, walk, read, people watch. In good weather, I ride my bike for miles along the riverfront and then ride the nearby Dequindre Cut. This is a clean, fun area for solo, couple or family activity. You have to visit to understand the beauty of this revitalized Detroit treasure.
Loved walking and sitting to watch the ships and pleasure boats on the water. Walked it daily until it got too cold.
Took a chance on a cold winter day and wanted to see the Detroit river in winter. Sunny but cold but so beautiful. So glad I went. The Riverwalk view in summer in every season is breathtaking.
Wonderful place to get your walking in. Beautiful scene on the riverfront. persons riding their bikes and people walking with their families.
We walked around and took pictures. Restrooms by the William G. Milliken State Park & Harbor signs were clean.Snow was cleared out of the pathways. Just be careful where you step because apparently dog owners who walk their pets there do not know how to clean up after them.
The walk along the river is fun and educations. Park at the Rivard Plaza, which is free. Walk down to the GM Renaissance building and enjoy the fresh air.
I took my wife here after work for happy hour as we enjoyed an evening on the riverwalk while visiting coach insignia. We enjoyed the walk and the downtown setting. Everything was extremely perfect and I loved walking the riverwalk holding hands. A nice romantic setting indeed.
Fun to visit with family anytime of the year. Especially in the summer when River Days Festival is downtown.
We come to the riverwalk quite often. It's a great place to come with the whole family or by yourself. There are so many activities going on especially during the summer. You can rent bikes, there is a carousel for the kids, beach volleyball, food and beverages. I would definitely recommend visiting! You haven't experienced Detroit until you have been to the riverwalk.
I enjoy to go for a long walk on a nice day and this is the place for it. Great view of Windsor across the river.
Very nice riverwalk right along the river and out the back door if staying at the Renaissance. The walk takes you right to Cobo and Joe Louis a nice stroll with great views of the river and Windsor. Have mostly used it in the fall and winter when in town for concerts but would be great on a nice summer day.
again this was part of our show me Detroit tour and we didn't have enough time to revisit, also the weather was a bit too cold for a good walk. Can understand this is a very popular location during the warm weather. views accross the river are excellent
part of the rejuvination of downtown detroit - this is a wonderful place to go for a run, walk, or simply catch some fresh air. great views across the river to Canada. goes for a good bit. highly recommend
The city seems to be working very hard to rebuild as much infrastructure as possible and they have done a nice job with such a valuable asset. The day I went for a run (during a business trip) the "walk" was packed with families out enjoying the summer weather. You can rent a bicycle along the walk and take a tour.
There are a lot of people on the river walking/ running/biking/skating. There are paved paths so that you can get a good number of miles exercising. Also, in the summer there are a variety of outdoor exercise classes held. When I went there was security patrolling the area, but there were no problems.
