My wife heard about Mexicantown so we thought that we'd check it out. Security is a concern in Detroit, obviously, but was relieved to see that the parking lots were filled with upscale autos and patrolled by private security guards. We didn't have a reservation on a Saturday night but they took us in. The service was fast and kind. The food was fresh and prompt, and the drinks were cold. The bill was $52 for the four of us. After dinner we took a walk up the street to a bakery for a pastry. We will definitely be visiting Mexicantown again, soon.

Many great places to eat around. Mexican village, Armandos, or Zochomilcos. Great prices, Great food, Authentic flavors a real value not to be expected in Detroit

Don't miss spending a day strolling the streets of Mexicantown. Excellent bakeries, tortilla shops and wonderful restaurants. Great atmosphere and great fun. The gift shops have beautiful wares imported from Mexico. I love my huge Mexican sombrero. Enjoy!

The rehearsal dinner was held here. I don't understand why with a reservation booked with the amount of people that we had 3 tables, three servers, and 3 bills?

Mexican town is a region on the Detroit side of the Ambassador Bridge where you can get some great food and snacks before heading back over to the Windsor side if you're from this region. I stumbled upon it the first time I went over and now this is where I try to eat every chance I get when I'm over the boarder. I've been to Mexico and I've eaten local and tourist fares (and enjoyed both) so if you want authentic Mexican dishes and groceries you can't beat this region. The people here are very nice and friendly just like in Mexico, which has it's issues the same as Detroit does, but don't let that scare you from exploring here and enjoy what this terrific region has to offer and remember while they do celebrate the "Day of the Dead" in Mexico, life is for the living so get in there and live!

Traveling in and out of Mexicantown in Detroit was a pleasant surprise. I had the opportunity to eat at three restaurants and was impressed with each one. The streets are tight and parking is not great but it's worth it. I went there for lunch...doesn't look like a spot I'd want to walk the streets of at night.

We went for dinner before the red wings game and 6 healthy guys split two flaming fajitas... They were amazing and so much food we couldn't finish them! The manager Lisa called us a number of cabs to get to the game and after waiting for a half hour or so with no luck, the owner Frank and the manager (Lisa) actually jumped in their own cars and drive us to the game. Above and beyond on so many levels! You guys are awesome, we will be back.

Took the shuttle here from the Inn On Ferry St to a restaurant called Xochimilco which was brilliant, not much to see in Mexican town but there looks to be about 5 or 6 nice eatery's.

We like the flavor of the whole neighborhood. We here for slamming back some Tequila and try to follow with hot, spicy food as quickly as possible.

Neighbor and I took a drive and ended up in Mexicantown and we were so happy we did. Its been a long time for me and I'd been craving some good Mexican food. We started on some great chips and salsa and both ordered enchiladas and guacamole. I could have ordered again!! It was sofresh and delicious; just loved the portion, cooked well and not spicy. Need to go back soon and try more of their great menu. Reminds me of the food I eat in Cabo San Lucas when I vacation. The staff was friendly, location very clean and the parking close. I thought this was well worth the trip and certainly one I'm adding to my list of places to go regularly.

As where greeektowns sign attract you in, mexicantowns should read " enter at your own risk " there trying there best, and most of the food is good... But the area is sketchy lets be honest ..Go in with the right mind set and you'll be just fine.. But don't think your entering some vibrant oasis of city blocks.

Detroiters and suburbanites are lucky to have this great place to enjoy first class Mexican cuisine. There are several wonderful restaurants to chose from. One time, we went to three different ones to just try a taco at each one! ALL were great and we had a ball!

Lots of Mexican restaurants. Most of them are very very average. The only thing that I would go back for is the Mexican Bakery. It is excellent. Quite an array of breads ranging from sweet to table bread. The shops are quaint and if you're looking for a typical Mexican gift (jewelry, souvenirs) you will definitely find them here.
