I have tried on three different occasions over the last 4 years to take the Ford Field Tour. And have never been able to actually take to the tour. Be advised if there is any activity at Ford Field the day you want to take the tour, they cancel the tour. Even if the Web Site indicates that there is a tour. Also make sure you park in the Ford Field parking garage, otherwise you have to pay for parking. Best tip is to check the Ford Field Website and make sure no Monster Trucks, Rodeo, Concert, ect is going on the day you want to take the tour.
There is not enough parking at Ford Field for the people attending, this forces you to find parking somewhere else in Detroit. This is hard to do when there is a concert the same night, starting at the same time in Joe Louis Area. We sat in traffic for over an hour trying to get off the freeway and get to the stadium. Also, the fact that it is in Detroit and none of the sidewalks are cleared of snow is not fun to walk in with 3 young kids. They didn't have all the entrances open so once we got to the stadium, we had wait in line 20 minutes (it was 15F outside) while we could hear the show starting inside. The show was okay, but again Ford Field let us down during intermission, both pizza places by section 126 were out of pizza. This is a kids event... what do you expect to be a hot seller?!?! So I get plain hot dogs and 4 bottles of water.. but the bottles don't have caps. So now I have to carry 4 bottles of water back to our seats, with no caps, in cheap paper trays. Oh yea, and the ticketing system APP doesn't work, they couldn't scan the QR code on my iPhone 6. (no screen protector) so just plan on using your credit card to get in. Never taking my family to downtown Detroit for a sporting event again. At least I know when I go to the Palace of Auburn Hills I can park at the venue. I'll wait until my kids are teens.
Third visit to Ford Field and a good thing it was not my first. I've been for football game and the Home Show. Great visits. This time it was to take the kids to Monster Jam. Getting anywhere near the stadium was more than challenging. 45 min from Broadway district to Grand Circus Park. Not one cop, not one traffic officer, not one person directing traffic. Utter chaos. Few ticket agents at the door which caused a huge and disorganized crowd. Another long wait and confusion to enter. (More chaos).Inside, the bathrooms were not filthy but not quite clean. The seats were dirty. And I mean from dust and dirt. Tried to wipe then down with a tail of my shirt, even bare hands. .. nope. Not sure why as this is the only a one night show in Detroit. Vendors seemed pleasant. Lack of ushers was noticeable. It's like they hosted the event but had zero care or involvement. Not sure who is actually behind the ticket sales (several itemized fees) but I was overcharged. Apparently Ford Field charges a $2 per seat "facility fee". This fee is Not disclosed and was embedded in the ticket AFTER I paid. Not sure what this was to cover (see comments about lack of cleanliness and employees). I had called the box office several times, and was promised a supervisor would call me (never did). If this had been a first visit, I would not return. Add it stands, I will never go back for a non - football event that has a specific start time.
Great place, great football, good beer, good times, great friends, tailgating out of this world. I will be coming back here for sure.
Place is beautiful, Great food, clean happy to have gone. Crowd was really controlled, with the presents of the police and security.
There aren't many places better than Ford Filed to watch a football game! Almost every game is sold out and it can get REALLY loud when the other team has the ball.
I love the setup of the field. Even the bad seats aren't really bad. We had a great time at the game. We loved being in Detroit seeing the game and not in another city further out. We wish the Pistons were this close to downtown as well. The location of the stadium is awesome. Right off of Woodward, by Comerica Park and across from the Fox!! Great sight at night.
Seating is great. Staff is very good. Stadium is beautiful and well maintained. The food areas are standing only for the most part. Only one place to sit and eat and not great food. Please don't ever go when the Tigers are playing too crazy crowded and no where to park. If you do it was 55 dollars to park. Madness but if you love football it all is worth it once your there.
Took our daughter and her friends to this show. Regret it. Downtown Detroit is a disaster. Took 3 hours to cover 20 miles on I 75. One off ramp. Tigers were playing, so all the near by parking was taken. We are not from Detroit, so did not know where to find other options. After going by 3 full lots, we luckily found a place a half mile away. After the show, raining, no cops to direct flow of people from Comerica as well as Ford. No cops to handle traffic, and all lights on blinkers. Was one of the most miserable trips of my life. That is not counting listening to One Direction for 90 minutes.
I love Ford Field. Seating has a great view from nearly anywhere, although I've not been up top yet. Clean and well kept. There are plenty of moderate to high price vendors throughout for food and beverages or souvenirs. Don't expect to find anything cheap at a Lions game. May want to eat before you get there, buy the 'free refill cup' to help offset some costs. It is sitting right next to Comerica park where the Detroit Lions play. It makes for a 'hot spot' if you will of fun things to see. The only gripe I ever have about FF is that I can never get a celltower. I have sprint but others I have gone with have had similar results. I never tried the wifi, so not sure if it is there or not but if you are trying to communicate, you may want to test it out or come up with an alternative plan! Ford Field is right downtown. People worry about safety but honestly there are plenty of happy game day people always walking to and from. Detroit police are always present but I've been to several games and never had a problem no matter what route I took there or back. Ford Field is within walking distance of Greek Town, great food and the casino is right there. Pizzapoulis is fantastic! Lots of other classic Greek diners there. If a budget isn't too much of an issue and you like seafood, try Firshbones! Amazing! If you go the opposite direction it is within walking distance of the Detroit Hard Rock.... but from there to Ford Field will be a bit of a hike, but it can be done!
All seats are good, the atmosphere is great, and all aspects of design are a touchdown. My favorite place to see a football game.
After attending many Lions games over the years at the Silverdome in Pontiac, i was really pleased with Ford Field, great location downtown next to Comerica Park, its just such a massive improvement over the no-frills Silverdome.Wide concourses lotsa grub outlets & a great Lions club shop ,plus watching Megatron from the 6th row ,what a great day!
The stadium itself is good compared to other stadiums I've been to. Wide concourse, more bathrooms although I swear no stadium will ever have enough! and good sight lines. Food is expensive and mediocre but every stadium in a multitude of cities suffers from the same issue. I split a Lions season ticket package some years ago and hadn't been back in years until the Quick Lane Bowl but I enjoyed the game and the stadium
Two friends and I attended a football game in December and Ford Field being a covered stadium certainly influenced our choice of venues. The Stadium is awesome. Great location, plenty of parking, great views from all seating and great fans. Entering and exiting was fine considering the huge number of fans attending. If there is one thing I can complain about was the scoreboard was small and surrounded by advertising. It would be much more useful to have Downs and yardage displayed much better. Other than that I would return and recommend taking in an event at this beautiful venue.
great stadium. Fans were absolutely awesome. Created a fascinating and fun atmosphere. Seemed all the seats in the stadium were awesome.
