Scenic sight for campers on the bluff of Lake Mi and beaches. Very busy and sometime a waiting list to get in but worth it.
The beach area of Buttersville Park is dog-friendly (Note: the City beach and state park do not allow dogs on their beaches). We did not visit or stay at the park itself (which has RV sites and, I believe, campsites) as we were only there for the beach. Oh, the beach - our black lab, Gunner, thoroughly enjoyed it - as did I. The lake temp was amazingly warm (we were there on September 2) and the weather, although mostly overcast, was beautiful as well. The beach area itself does not have any amenities (except for dog poo bags, thankfully!) so plan accordingly. As we were there for only a couple of hours, we did not need to use any facilities and I am not sure if the camp facilities are available for general public use. We did see a few other people with their pets, all of which were friendly and on good behavior - probably out of sheer exhaustion from playing in the water! The beach is quite nice - a band of shells and small rocks about a foot wide at water's edge, but then pure, smooth sand as you get into the water. I waded in to just above waist deep and it was not rocky at all. Highly recommended for anyone traveling with their dog(s) in the area. Can be a bit hard to find - you need to take Pere Marquette Hwy to Iris Road, then follow the signs to the park. Beautiful drive getting there.
Mostly cater to locals. Can make reservations one day a year in person. When I was there firework use was out of control and going on until 3am. Dogs were unleashed and barking past midnight and again at 7am. So. If you own a dog and want to bring it on the beech, party all night, and have rules not followed its great. This is a good drinking park. Beech is awesome. Location is nice. Lots are small. Don't go with a tent or canvas camper, your family won't sleep. Nighttime administration is non existent and not patrolled.
This is a great beach that everyone would enjoy cruising to. It's near White Pine Village and has reasonably easy access to the beach below. My daughters love rushing down the dunes, but we take the longer path up because it has a slight incline.
We came to Buttersville to visit the Pere Marquette Memorial and then to walk the beach and look for driftwood. We were very glad we did! It’s obvious that those camping or choosing to come here are able to relax and enjoy the beach without as many people as Ludington. I’m not sure about the private portions of the beach or what seems to be part of someone’s property. We stayed in a relatively narrow band of the beach and no one seemed to care.
very nice for a local small venue, low key, low tech and good for kids, was very inexpensive too, overlooked a bluff by lake michigan
I had read several reviews about Buttersville Park; but when we visited, I was disappointed with what we found. It's a great location, but the sites are very small and looks like about half are taken by seasonal campers.
Great beach just down the road from our rental. Not crowded, friendly people. good parking. Being near the cottage was a plus on the day we decided to go back to the house, fix lunch and picnic on the beach since it was a great beach day!
Don't bother -- this park is too small and requires a circuitous drive on the South side of Ludington.
Just down the way from White Pine Village. No facilities here, but a cute little beach to enjoy the water.
This is a very nice beach off the beaten path. Does not have the restroom or snack bar of the other beach. Very nice views and sand
facilities are a bit laking at the water edge park... the campground nearby might have some facilities , but you're along with a porta pee poo...if you have to make doody. You do have a view of the North breakwater from the beach
spent a whole day at the beach with family dog, clean and fun
Nice Clean Beach~Parking Lot Available. Dogs allowed. No bathrooms.
