This is a gem not to be missed in the small town of Lebanon, Mo. Located in the Lebanon/Laclede Library and full of nostalgic Route 66 and local history.
I really liked this place. The owner was very friendly and had many interesting things to view and buy. They even have their own soda. A must stop when you are out and about.
Stopped here on return trip from visiting Arizona as a little sightseeing break. It is a very interesting museum with many exhibits featuring many scenes from bygone years and facts about historic Rt.66. Admission price is very reasonable- $5 for adults, $ 4 for seniors and children. The site also features many old building fronts with items from earlier years, many of which were donated by local residents. Also of interest is a rodeo display. Would recommend a visit here to travelers looking for something interesting to do.
The best thing we did was eat at the Cave Restaurant in Richland, not far from Lebanon. WOW! The food was nothing spectacular, but it was plentiful and in such an unusual setting. Worth the extra time trying to locate.
We spent a little time in Lebanon, MO. The museum is great! But then, I love all things Route 66. We saw a few different 66 museums and all were great. Each one has different items so all is unique and special. I can't wait to go back! I was ready after we were home for about 3 days. I took a lot of great pictures to share with the grandkids. They all have so much history and it helps it come alive having these things to share. When in MO, see the museum. You won't be disappointed.
This place has a great title but it is a let down. There is really not much to it, so do not make a special trip to visit.
Loved the short jaunt down memory lane. Well done displays even my kids enjoyed seeing things from the passed. The gas pumps and soda fountain was great
The museum is small but concentrated. The best part was the gift shop which is full of genuine US craft-work.I had a very interesting conversation with the curator who has a fine ideological motivation for the museumStop if you are in the area
The museum was interesting, well done and provided tidbits of the past. Route 66 contributed a great deal to the American life and helped shape America. Worth a quick visit, make sure to stop t the gift shop for some cool hits.
This museum was better than what I thought it was going to be. I read that it was in a library and thought to myself it wasn't going to be very good. There is a lot of information packed into a little space, however it is placed very orderly. I really liked the displays they had set up. There's no charge to visit, but they do take donations :)
The museum is a wonderful opportunity to learn about local Route 66 people and places! There are displays of what local hotels, and camps, rooms looked like. Period equipment, gas pumps and an antique car are there. Other historical items are on display too. People are very well informed and can show you around the museum. There is also a well stocked gift shop which has a variety of interesting items. Great Place!
The museum was a little hard to find, so I did spend some time driving around the block- the street sign for the library and the sign on the library have different names. I enjoyed the displays there- I like seeing glimpses of America as it had been. I did visit the museum in the midst of a re-organizing of displays, so not all the displays were available. This was rather disappointing. I stayed at the Munger Moss Hotel, and the host there told me of several things from their hotel to be on the lookout for- the most notable of which was the old switchboard.
It's a small museum but very well done, love the recreation of the old gas station and cafe. The local guide was terrific and so knowledgeable.
I have always been a history buff. The Mother Road 66 has always been a neat place to check out. Since mt husband and I live in MO. We have travel some of it in MO and other states. This Museum has alot of neat stuff in it.
The route 66 museum in Lebanon is very interesting and well presented. You can see reproductions of and old garage and an old diner among other things. It is in the public library. It's free (donation box inside). Good picture ops.
