This is one of the most beautiful nature centers we have been to. The center it self as so much to offer both young at heart and young. There is a Menandering path outside that travels along the Missouri River. A great place to visit if you are a nature lover and very informative.
went with the grandchildren and I'm not sure who had the better time! We all did!!! I appreciated the fact that there were chairs available for those of us who needed to sit every once in a while.
Great center on the Missouri River. Nice nature trail. We only wished there was even more of it to see!
Love taking my dogs for a walk at the nature center. The pathways are beautiful and its nice walking along the river.
Wonderful,hands-on place for kids of all ages to explore past history and the animals around them. We enjoyed the experience and everyone was helpful.
I'm a nature buff so I always enjoy being outdoors, and as a teacher, I like learning more about our natural world.
The wooly mammoth is very impressive; also the aquarium and local wildlife displays. The interactive displays have some fun activities for kids.
Visited the Nature Center with my younger kiddos. The lady at the front told my kids about a scavenger hunt. They had to find 12 yellow sunflowers through out the center, some of them were really difficult to find but the staff was helpful and pointed us in the right direction. We had an awesome time and it is a must do if you are into nature. There is a great trail that looked wonderful but we ran out of time to do it.
Our family of five has been to the Remington Nature Center twice, and really enjoyed both of our trips there. This facility doesn't seem to receive the same amount of promotion as some of the other museums/attractions in Saint Joseph, but it's fairly new, quite clean, and great for kids. There are live fish, bees, and birds to observe, as well as mounted otters, beavers, bears, etc. Plus, there is a neat walk-through area that shows what life was like in the area at different stages over the past 20,000 years. I think it's safe to say that children of all ages (and adults) would be interested in the exhibits here.We paid less than $10 for our group's admission, and we toured the whole museum in about an hour.... but some might want to stay longer.
Fun short hiking and biking trail. Interesting museum. Exhibits were well done. Very worthwhile stop.
the museum exhibits are spectacular and housed in a very new, beautiful building right next to the Missouri river and the river walkway. you learn a lot about the history of this part of Missouri and the animal life.
This place is a newer attraction to St. Joseph with a lot to see and do. Great displays throughout the place. Timeline of St. Joseph walk thru is pretty interesting with a lot of locally donated items. Rocks/ Artifacts exhibit shows a lot of different forms of rocks and Indian artifacts found in the area. Nice size aquarium located next to a small eating area/concession area. The seating area is available outside as well. Gift shop has typical items but nature themed..no cheesy key chains etc. Give it a try if your kids are driving you crazy about being bored as the prices are super reasonable!! Oh and the staff was super friendly!
My daughter has had a horrible fear of bees. I took her to the nature center to hopefully educate her about these insects. She was able to see a bee hive first hand, and thanks to the knowledgable staff, learn about the importance of bees in nature. Thanks to this visit, my daughter now considers herself a 'bee expert'! This is such a wonderful facility with incredibly friendly, knowledgable staff. St. Joseph is lucky to have such a place!
Explore the local history and geography of the area surrounding St. Joseph and along the Missouri River. From the fish in the river (and on display in the huge aquarium with feeding times posted) to the huge Mammoth that greats you at the door! Local native American along with western and trading history can be seen.
My 2 children and I had a GREAT time. I did not know if my 3 year old would be impressed with walking around looking at exhibits. But after being greeted by life size Mammoths resembling "manny and peaches" my fears were quickly put to rest. Very engaging. LOVED it!
