If I am not wrong, Huzzah is a Latin word that loosely translates to "Greatest place on Earth". And OMG is that an appropriate definition. I've heard people describe a warm fuzzy feeling in their stomach when they received a puppy for Christmas but I never could relate to that feeling...UNTIL NOW! That's right! The Huzzah River Valley is like opening up a box on Christmas Morning and seeing a little Bernese Mountain Dog poke his head out and whisper the words, "God bless us, every one". If you like good times and crackin' cold ones this is the place to be. I believe it was Johnny Cash who sang the words, "I've been everywhere man, I've been everywhere, but nowhere compares to the Huzzah River Valley Resort in Steelville, Missouri." That's right it has been mentioned in one of the greatest country songs of all time! Listen close though or you'll miss it. This is a must go for campers and RVers alike! Whatever your faith may be, the Huzzah River Valley will restore it for a period of about 13 minutes. The river is fairly clear and comfortably cool. I recommend you choose a hot day for the float trip. Conclusion: Huzzah = Heaven on Earth
Despite the commercials and brochure images, the Huzzah is not family friendly. The campground and river is full of patiers. I didnt care for my young son seeing naked people, people puking off the side of their boats, and people passed out. People also would block creek and make it impassable. We stayed in the Huzzah Hillton and it was clean and very tiny. You have to bring everything. No towels, sheets, or tv. Staying at the super 8 in Cuba was a better choice. People have fires and cook in the places you would park so that you can't park anywhere. The tube we were issued should have been retired as all the handles on the sides were ripped all the way through and we had nothing to grab onto to drag the boat when the water was too shallow. Be warned that there is nowhere to eat if you are getting off the river later. We were starving but they refused to let us eat since we didn't have a reservation for their buffet. That night we had to settle for Casey's pizza. When we tried to ask a staff member sitting on the porch of the store, he ignored us and then was rude saying we had to RSVP and when we asked about wifi to check out stuff he laughed and said they dont have wifi there. This is the place to go if you're an ignorant twenty something that wants to act stupid and get wasted.
Our group of friends have been canoeing together for over 20 years. We used to do the Current River but our accommodations that we had been going to for years just kept going down hill, while the price went in the opposite direction. So we tried Huzzah Valley Resort! It was the best, people are friendly and its extremely clean. We use their lodging but even the camping area is well kept. They not only maintain everything to keep it in good shape, but they do upgrades too!! Hopefully, they will have our business for another 20 years!!
We love staying in the A frame cabins at Huzzah. The campground is excellent. The staff is friendly and helpful. Great family getaway to go canoeing/kayaing/rafting!
We had fun. Bathrooms were clean. Great place to relax and have fun. The other campers are friendly and helpful. We had a great spot. Very roomy.
Second time visiting and it was great! We wanted a secluded site and were placed in campsite 70e (tenting)- really quiet spot out of the way. Pretty close to the store/showers/bathroom. Store is well stocked and prices are reasonable. They have just about anything you would need. Showers and bathrooms up front are clean. Showers are .50 for 5 minutes. Showers at the back of camp (clean but rustic) remind me of something out of a horror movie which is perfect if you're into the Friday the 13th kind of thing. Staff is friendly and helpful. Also took a float trip from Scotia to the cave based on staff recommendation. Perfect length and plenty of water. Looking forward to our next visit here.
After my third weekend trip planned, I just have to rave about this place! Check-in is great. I always choose the Family side. The zoo side is too wild for me. It's important to book early if you have a particular spot in mind. I always like to say way in the back (H, G, F spots). It's quiet, it's close to the water and it's very peaceful. The showers are clean and useful but they have portable facilities all around the grounds, so no worries on what to do if you have to use the bathroom. If you aren't feeling like tent camping, choose the cabins or the full house. Don't forget to check out the breakfast buffet or the horseback riding. The MOST important thing to do is FLOATING!!! Prepare to spend the most peaceful 6-8 hours of your day on the water. It's CRYSTAL clear, smooth and slow... just how floating should be.
We come here for the last weekend in june every year and it never disappoints! Accomidates our large group, partying and all. :)
This resort did their best to make sure our very large group had everything they needed for the weekend. However, there were several lights in the showers but I'm sure that's an easy fix. We were rained out and several of the camping spots were under water. We visit this resort as a large group every year and they always take good care of us. We have tried 3 other resorts and we're not nearly as happy. So returned to Huzzah. I amsure they will do whatever they can to make your trip special too.
We came to the Huzzah Valley Resort 4th of July weekend for a float trip. Since it was just my boyfriend and I, we rented a canoe. They brought us upstream in a large van with other floaters and helped us unload coolers and supplies for the day. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Once we were situated in the canoe, off we went! The water was so clean and the scenery just gorgeous! Being my first time, we did the shorter of 2 float runs- (would definitely recommend the longer one unless you are going to be making a lot of stops as you have to reach the end by a certain time). I am looking forward to a return trip here! There are many other things to do, such as camping or horseback riding, but they are definitely known for their great float trips!
