pinnacles youth park

We packed a picnic basket and enjoyed a peaceful lunch under one of the pavilions looking out at the snow. It was fun to walk down by the frozen creek and enjoy the white scenery and enormous rock formations.

The best part about this park is it's so close to Columbia but does not feel like it! The walking trails are next to where the creek flows so you can get right in the center of the natural beauty. We went in the fall and the views were breathtaking! Be sure to wear a good pair of hiking shoes.

I've lived in Columbia for over twenty years, but I didn't go to Pinnacles until this spring. It's lovely and well cared-for. The paths were easy to find, but natural, and there was no litter. The bathrooms were a little more primitive than I like, but I was happy they were there. They depend on donations and there's a donation box by the driveway across from the caretaker's home.

We love to walk here! My five year old always asks to "hike" at the pinnacles. Great place for exploring, meeting with friends for a walk and picnic, climbing, and just having fun in nature. If you like trails and the outdoors, this is a pretty, quiet and safe place to go. I would recommend it.

Very enjoyable walk thru tree laden area and small creek. Awesome rock formations. Definitely a take your camera and bring home pictures your friends will envy. Peaceful, relaxing, and quite a site.
