Wonderful pie and such great flavors! I love how nice and helpful the staff is. I find it very convenient to go in and grab a small pie for two or a large pie for a family. Go early for a variety of flavors but if you can't there is always a few small pies left! I will be back!!!Love these pies!
I bought three small pies today to test out their pies for Christmas - Southern Pecan, American Apple and Praline Peach. Very good crusts! Substantial taste and filling. Fruit is still crisp for texture. This also allows for reheating while losing none of the fresh tasting. The pecan was one of the richest I've ever tasted. Lady offered me several varieties hot out of the oven but the three I bought were on the shelves. They are well packed and smelled wonderful in the back seat all the way home even though they were cooled. We plan to pick several varieties from their long list and pick them up for Christmas. The advertising and hype on TV and in magazines is true. Recommend to everyone! Pies are expensive but worth it. No seating room in this store.
Decadent deliciousness! The hardest part is choosing. They make different sizes which is very nice so two CAN share a baby pie which is great for singles or two people trying not to eat a whole pie in one day. Or I get a strawberry rhubarb for my husband and some other for me. Only place I know you can get a fresh gooseberry pie and it tastes just like I made it. The owners make the pies...they are not mass produced in a factory. Best to call ahead but I know if I just drop in they will have something yummy. They also now have Chicken Pot Pie and you can pre-order it baked or to take home and bake yourself. They will even sell you pie dough or struessel topping if you want to construct your own semi homemade pie. Not open Sunday or Monday, but do go find them!
Peggy Jean's started decades ago in downtown Columbia, morphed into a restaurant, went through trials and tribulations and are now back in an out-of-the way stripmall south of town off Providence and Grindstone. Without a doubt the best pies in this or any other galaxy, now run by one of the original owners and her delightful daughter. Cherry, rhubarb, whatever you want, and if its not in stock they'll bake it up fresh for pickup the next day. Before TSA, my mother carried a rhurbarb pie on her lap on the airplane from Missouri to DC. Unfortunately you now have to actually come to the shop for your pie fix, but its every bit as good as ever was.
