This used to be a nice park and I know it's an attraction but it's not safe anymore. This park is now a transient hang out. I would not take my kids here.
This is a great place to attend for Food Truck Fridays during the Spring and Summer months. The street is lined with a variety of food trucks. Bring your own seating and listen to the live music. This is a great place to people watch!
My son was married at the Chinese Pavilion (perfect as his bride is Chinese) and we took pictures by the water fountain after. Lucky to have a nice day in September. I run through that park every day when I visit this town and have never had an issue - ever. Not to say you don't want to be careful but that goes for anywhere. There's much more foot traffic (runners, walkers, kick ball players, dog walkers, and bikers in the warmer months). I agree it's much prettier in bloom but winter is a great time to stroll through as well. There is live music at one of the many pavilions sometimes to search for that if you are in the area. Grand Avenue has some great little restaurant nearby. And it was a serious cheap rental for a wedding - would be a fun place to hold a family event. That being said, WE had to go clean up a bit (leaves, some litter) beforehand, but we expected to do that. A definite go to if you are in that area.
Just took a drive through...nothing special....Have to fill up the rest of my characters with this sentence...it was that boring....GO IN THE SUMMER
We wanted something to do while in STL, so we could just talk, hold hands and spend time together. This place was beautiful, peaceful, lots of places to walk, sit and talk. Many fountains, very large, much bigger than we thought, we even lost the car for a few minutes. Nice place to relax for couples, families, joggers.
Stay away from this park. High crime area. When in St. Louis in general you need to be aware of your surroundings.
This are was at one time the place where the who's who of the old mercantile and industrial families of wealth enjoyed time off in days gone by, but the area is restored and the house looking better than original but the real treat is the park and many many different yet old gazebo's from an era gone by but just as nice as when first built. Many dining locations close as well as the botanical gardens so see both.
During the summer months the first Friday of every month is food truck Friday, fun nights... Tower Grove park also has other fun festivals during the summer. Nice park
I should know...I lived in Tower Grove Heights for years. I visited this park often and have very fond memories. It's HUGE, great for walking - the tree-lined paths make you forget you are in a city. Nice water features, architecture, many trees (lots of different types), - all of which make TGP ideal for festivals, picnics, weddings, pictures, sports, etc. I recommend getting some good take out from one of the restaurants on Grand South Grand and taking it to the park.
My daughter had her wedding reception at the Piper Palm House, ten years ago. We lived nearby, and our kids played soccer and softball here. But the greatest asset seems to be the ever enriched diversity of trees and their seasonal changes. It is a delight to just drive throught the Park, instead of outside, to enjoy the wonderful trees of every kind.
Tower Grove Park is awesome! I have worked in the park at the Farmer's Market almost every Saturday for the last two years (the market runs from late April to mid-November) and have enjoyed every minute. It's large and beautifully maintained (except for the restrooms) and a great place for a walk, a run, a picnic or just to sit and soak up the sunshine. A true hidden gem in St. Louis, a national historic landmark and one of my favorite places in St. Louis!
Recent stroll with my dog, I discovered a row of holly trees lining one of the walks. was a great surprise, since I grew up playing in this s park. It's always a joy to walk and discover something new. One of the country's last example of a Victorian walking park. Must see.
This park is so huge that you can spend a lot of time strolling, playing, resting and just taking in the beauty of the nature featured there. It is so easy to park along its perimeter and gain access from anywhere and then have a picnic, a game of Frisbee, tennis, or football!
St. Louis is fortunate to have many outstanding parks.Forest Park is the best know and overshadows some of the other wonderful parks here.Tower Grove Park was donated to the city by Henry Shaw,a St. Louis businessman, who also established the Missouri Botanical Gardens. T G Park seems to have meandered in and out of my life over several decades but I seem to always come back to it.I grew up not far from the park where we played baseball and rode our bikes.Later when,I worked downtown we would eat lunch in the park ,a nice reprieve from the workday.I also played tennis in the park which is where Butch Bucholtz, tennis pro learned to play from his father who ran the tennis program.Later, one of my daughters got married in the Piper Palm House located in the park and it was a blending of old and new, quite beautiful and memorable..Worth a drive or walk through or if your recreationally inclined, bring your tennis racquet or baseball or soccer equipment
This gift to the city is a wonderful oasis in South City. Unique trails to run, bike or walk. Beautiful gardens and a Saturday market like no other.
