rutledge-wilson farm community park

I went with my family during the Fall . There were a lot of games for kids to play, animals to pet, and a small pond. I don't have kids yet but I'd love to take them when I do. If you want to spend a nice day outdoors with your children, this is your place.

Rutledge-Wilson Farm Community Park is a 207 acre farm/park that provides several recreational resources for the community. The park is a farm-themed site that has a visitor center, gift shop, milking barn, prairie and pasture land, one-mile walking trail, small pond and playground. The park is free, but there are special events or activities that require fees. There are several community events at this park to include things like an egg hunt, a zombie run, urban gardens, and camps (for kids and adults). There are also ways to rent park amenities like bonfire pits, classroom space, bounce house or arrange an animal meet and greet (horse, sheep, goat, or rabbit). If you are in the Springfield area and have the need to spend some time on the farm, this is the place for you!

Our family visits here a few times per year, usually around the fall when they have the Pumpkin days activities. Our 10 y/o ran in the 1k "zombie" race held there this past October and we enjoyed all the festivities of the farm, decorations and hay rides. We have also utilized their week long summer camp schedules over the years and found it an amazing hit for us personally as my daughter loves, outdoors, and, animals! The park (playground area that is) itself is small and for younger children i would day 7 or less, but the rest of the activities are for all ages!

This park has nice playground facilities in addition to a functional farm. They have all sorts of livestock for the children to interact with. They frequently have festivals and other activities for children. Check their schedule, there's something going on all the time. They have refreshments and a gift shop. There are facilities for rent for events. Its a lot of fun for the whole family.
