I don't usually review sites like this, but, for me, this memorial was, in some ways, even more moving than the Vietnam Memorial in D.C. My wife and I stopped by on our trip to see family for Christmas in Georgia not really knowing what to expect. I am not of the Vietnam Era (I was born in 1970), but I am a history buff and was really touched by the photos displayed of all the young men who gave their lives during this war. As I looked at the countless pictures of them I imagined how heartbreaking it must have been for their families to receive the news of their deaths and I have to admit I got a bit emotional. A very well thought out place for remembrance.
If in the area a must see. A very nice memorial to Vietnam Veterans. Ceremonies held there several times a year. A place for the walkers and joggers too.
Nice place to visit and enjoy the displays. We stopped to see the Helicopter and wall. Could spend 30 minutes there or longer.
This is a very nice place ...it's very peaceful...go VIsit, I will never say anything negative on any monument or memorial to our Vets..
As a Vietnam Vet I feel healed and rested and some times shed a few tears. It's a good quite peaceful place to remember and reflect upon years gone by. When I'm having a bad day a visit to this memorial helps me. I hope it helps you as well.
The displays were well lite and informative. The staff was very friendly. The tour was interactive. I disliked NOTHING about the visit except I did not have the time I needed to stay.
This war memorial by far exceeds most in towns. It was a pleasant surprise to see etched pictures on the walls along with names. Very touching gesture that I have only seen on a war monument in Ocean Springs
this is some place you should visit not matter if you are from the USA or not. The pictures on the walls of those youngsters who were killed is moving and should be a reminder to all of the waste of war. It's impossible to see without tears.
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is one of those places that brings tears to your eyes as you view the photos of those from Mississippi who gave their all. It's a quiet and peaceful place where you can just sit and pray.As an added site, there is a memorial to Submarines that have been lost with their crews. It is dedicated to the men of the USS Tullebee which was lost in WWII.
I was so moved by this memorial, seeing the face of these young so very young men who gave the ultimate to keep us free really moved me. I am a Vietnam Era Vetwho by the grace of God did not have to go to Vietnam. God Bless these Brave men !
If you are a Vietnam vet of any service, you will appreciate this tasteful memorial to those who served. The grounds are extremely clean and well maintained. The location is extremely visable and well signed right on Highway 90 (Bienville Blvd) in Ocean Springs. A great place to walk, rest, reflect, and meditate.
It is a plain and simple memorial to deceased veterans of wars who were Mississippi residents. The construction lends itself to meditation when the site is visited, to see the picture and name of the individual honored.
My hope is that all who visit, not just folk like me from this Vietnam era generation, will truly stop, reflect and appreciate the service and sacrifice these young Soldiers, Marines, Airmen and Sailors made to fight for freedom. We all owe these warrior hero's an un-payable debt of gratitude. Let us also remember the shame we all carry for not welcoming the surviving veterans home years ago as we all should have. While there, it is a fitting time to offer a prayer of forgiveness from them, for ignoring their ultimate sacrifice.
the VIETNAM VET MEMORIAL is a long overdue place of HONOR!!! I believe that the place will capture your heart, mind and spirit for a humbling experience-of just what occured in the conflict--just the names and faces -of the lives LOST -just from this area alone---is staggering!!! the MEMORIAL is NOT hard to find--it is located just off hyway 90 in OCEAN SPRINGS,MISS...it has a walking track around the grounds--and it very peaceful-even being close to the hyway---the memorial--itself is like i said OVER DUE---and it does make you think about the consequrnces of WAR--which in my eyes -human lives are wrth so much MORE---When you visit--just keep in mind some of these things--and has I DID WHEN I WAS THERE---I JUST FELT --IT WAS NOT ENOUGH--NO -we can construct monuments in HONOR AND MEMORY --BUT--the COST IS FAR MORE than the mire construction of it all!!!! look into the faces and the eyes of some of those pictures---and has the warm gulf breezes blow across your faces---there will probably be more tears to wipe away-than you could have imagined!!! GO---EVERY AMERICAN NEEDS TO VISIT ---IT IS HUMBLING.
I thought this was so pretty and very interesting how this wasset up and how awesome it was to see these peoples pictures and how they are honored for fighting for our freedom our country and most of all our flag.
