This is a decent casino on the Mississippi River in Vicksburg. They do offer a complementary soft drinks and complementary alcoholic drinks while gambling. If you are a blackjack player, you will be frustrated because they were very few true blackjack tables. There are lots of other video gambling machines and the casino is on two levels. There are not that many places to eat, essentially just one coffee shop, a buffet, and a steakhouse. The buffet and coffee shop were very good. I did not eat at the restaurant. On the weekend, the casino was quite crowded, especially around the table games. It is certainly an adequate casino but there was nothing "special" about it
As casinos go, this one is average. Nothing great ... but clean and comfortable with enough space to never feel crowded (granted, I've never been there on the weekend). My biggest problem with it is that they apparently don't have enough staff to adequately cover the floor. Waitresses are almost non-existent. They have two floors, but I've never seen the cage open on the bottom floor. Very obnoxious to have to go upstairs to the cage. Seems they could at least open one window! I've won there and lost there .... so about average for any casino.
We just stopped to gamble and were so impressed at how beautiful and clean. We had fun and did win here. We would stop again if we are ever in this area.
It's bigger and better (atmosphere, not odds) than the others I have visited in the area. I do wish they had more none smoking areas.
It looks like it's on the river boat - but the water didn't seem to come up to it - Casino had free soft drinks. Staff very friendly. Slots were so-so, didn't win anything, Very clean. The casino is down a very steep hill off Washington street.
When stopping in vicksburg, we found there is not a lot to do. The casino was the answer for an evening of entertainment by the slots. We enjoyed the place but noted that we elected to go to the non smoking area and found that there were ash trays and smokers everywhere in that section. Why isn't it enforced??
We never expect to win but we still enjoy the sounds of the SLOTS! I great place to stop and give yourself a break from the long drive. We will probably go back next time we ar passing through the area.
We visited the Buffett at Ameristar Casino on a week night. They were not busy and the service was fast. They had a large selection of food on the buffett, but it was not as fresh as I would have liked. The salad greens were wilted and the roast was set from sitting under a heat lamp too long. Over all it was average for the price
the buffet here is no joke.....you do not leave wanting another bite....if you go on a Friday or Saturday, it is seafood bar.....all you can eat crab legs is worth every penny
It seems to me all pinnacle casino's (I've been to) are all placed near other low class casinos. I see all the "excellent" reviews this casino has received and wonder if Pennacle hires these people to write reviews.? I'm not complaining about the "loose-ness" of their slots (of which didn't seem too loose), I'm talking about their un-classy way of treating the patrons. I've been in many casinos and have never been a casino where I had to pay for a beer, while playing at a craps table! Wow! I walked in the last morning of our stay with a cup of coffee. Security was quick to stop me and demand i throw it in the trash before entering the casino! Wow again! I guess they didn't want anyone smelling good coffee. (They might have to leave to get a cup.) You people are amazing! If you want to see what real class is, go to a real casino. The buffet wasn't bad. The Dealers were not bad. The "welcome to our casino-we appreciate your visit" feeling is nowhere to be found! Stay away
Like their Cedar Bluffs Casino, this is designed as a riverboat and is on the river.Three stories high, gaming on the first two floors with a steak house and buffet on the third cloor.Unlike Cedar Bluffs, this buffet is worth visiting. Large selection, appealing display and properly seasoned. Maybe not habit forming but worth the $16. Slots a little tight but be patient and you'll find a couple to pay off. And, you can get a complementary adult beverage while you gamble.
I travel through Vicksburg once or twice a year and stay over to rest and gamble. I usually stay at another place (other side of the bridge) but decided to try Ameristar. Bad choice. The hotel was OK other than housekeeping standing outside my room carrying on a long conversation in the morning while we're trying to sleep. Really? Are you that inconsiderate when the sign on my door says "Sleep" (their 'do not disturb' sign). But the casino is the real problem. Where do I begin? I'll just try to bullet it out without rambling.- The casino staff is rude across the board. No matter what game I was playing, where I was in the casino, they were rude. Even when tipping, they were rude, LOL. - At the craps table... I practically had to beg to get in the game (yes there were spots open). Tipped dealers on one bet, no thank you at all. Gave them a hard 10 bet - THAT HIT - and when I pushed it to them, it was really painful for one of them to acknowledge it. Last tip at the craps table from me after that.- Oh, and then they CLOSED half of the craps table (this was midnight on a Thursday) claiming they didn't have somebody to work that half of the table. But they had the modified "no craps" table with all people on it. Guess they're more intent on ripping off the players on the modified game than offering real players the chance to gamble. It wasn't just me that came up there, it was a stream of people trying to play and they were rudely turning them away on one half of the table.- Blackjack - they use the shufflers but in a backhanded way. Instead of either playing through a shoe or taking every hand and stuffing it in a shuffler (being upfront), they'll play two or three and then decide to throw the cards back in the shuffler. Take a guess when they decide to stuff the cards in the shuffler? If the table is favoring the dealer, let it play. If the table starts to favor the players, stuff the cards in the shuffler. Ridiculous.- The blackjack dealers - just as rude as the craps dealers.- The waitresses, even though I'm tipping every drink, they're still playing games, coming and going at random, very unpredictable intervals. I've seen this before many times, it's just further manipulation, usually by managers to mess with the player's experience.- Even the cage folks were rude. Maybe they were mad I actually cashed out some money and didn't leave any more to this pathetic little operation.Go gamble somewhere else in Vicksburg. Why put up with rude workers and shady game tactics when you have choices?
We have seen many casino's all around the United States and we come prepared...take our fleece vests and we have an enjoyable evening. But....not here ! It's so cold that we didn't have fun playing here. The cool air blowers above some slots are directly on your neck and will let your muscles cramp. No fun playing but there was a good variety in slots and a few table games
We recently towed our travel trailer from Hot Springs down to Gulf Shores. I wanted to stay at a point about halfway. I thought of Vicksburg Mississippi. I somehow stumbled upon a review of the Ameristar Resort RV Park. I thought we would try it on the way down and back. The sweet southern lady at the desk put us in a spot near the doggie walk the first night #12. We had 4 pups with us. It worked out very well.I had read that some of the pads were uninhabitable because they were too narrow and sloped so badly that getting the RV level was impossible. I am guessing that those reviews were written by a friend of the competition. The pads are narrow but not so narrow that you would not be able to make them work. I found right away that the camper had to be pulled up so far that the truck had to be park behind in order not to block the driveway. I had to do that in order to open the slideout all the way. It was not a big deal for us. I saw where other folks had opened the slide without checking first. The water and electric on some of the sites had been damaged. I guess that would upset me. I always check and then check again before I put my side out.On the way home the pad was a bit unlevel. I had to use only one leveler in order to get to level so it wasn't too off. All in all I would not hesitate to recommend the Ameristar Resort RV Park. The ladies there are very friendly and have that endearing southern drawl that I grew up hearing being from Memphis and have relatives from Mississippi. Plus you could do like my daughter did and win $85.00 at the casino!
is was a nice casino staff was nice I have been to bigger and better casinos but over all it was a nice place.
