As an 80 year old Danbury resident who is a USGA walking golfer, Richter GC is a bargain beyond belief. The course is a scenic gem with water in play on half the holes. The rolling forested county side is great all year but fall is spectacular. The play is challenging. The staff has become very friendly and helpful in recent years. The restaurant is rated by Open Table users as one of the best in Connecticut and has an informal golf option or a white table cloth more formal dining option. Golf Pro's Brian and Brian are well respected instructors and fun guys. The starter/ranger crew are friendly and helpful. Richter House and grounds are used for art showings, concerts and staged musicals. Enjoy this Danbury, CT treasure.
very woodsy-well maintained walking trails. its aso a golf course and has a fine restaurant there. The trails are easy and challenging.
Food is reasonably priced in a nice setting. The service could not be better. Very nice outdoor dining with a view of the 18 th green.
Had heard lots of hype and was a tad let down on this my first round here, but this a very good course, a challenging layout. Water, sloping fairways (some a little too much for my taste). Well maintained, pleasant staff. A little pricey.
Thre of us left me Rochelle at 9:30 for a 10:54 tee time. Cold but forecast to have sun and rise from 50 degrees to 60. Never happened and the wind was 2 to three clubs. Found Cart Paths Only upon arrival on a course we played once before. Leaves covered the course and made finding fairway boms imposslble. A horrible day and a horrible experience made worse but un even inconsistent greens and washed out had packed bunkers, if you are going to open then open with attention to details .I am pretty sure we keep richter as a regular stop on,our Spook Rock,Union Vale type of venues.Net it was,a,very disappointing last Friday in OctoberAJW
I think this is a very well done course. I've golfed everywhere, even in some of the most exclusive courses in the US and although it doesn't come close to the very best, I do believe that it's up with the very best that are in this immediate area. I don't see an advantage of some of the courses in Ridgefield or elsewhere in Fairfield County over Richter. I've always found it to be very well cared for and the wait times are very reasonable. Overall, I think it's excellent for the class of course that it is.
For a resident it's a good price and in OK condition. If I want to invite a friend from out of town it's "way" too expensive. We end up in Ridgefield, same kind of course and better kept and $32 for a senior walking even for out of town people!!!
The food is excellent. The staff is friendly and professional. It was a lovely day so we decided to sit outside on the balcony overlooking the golf course. The view was gorgeous, especially when the sun went down. Very romantic. However, the only fault I found was that I asked the manager for a cleaner placemat and he returned with the same placemat and just placed it upside down so I wouldnt see the stain. That was a turn off to me However, everything else was great. We will ddefinitely return.
Wonderful clean golf course with superb eatery. Scenic driving to golf course and enjoy food at "Cafe on the Green" if you are not playing golf.
Played this course all the time and it's absolutely amazing. Probably the best public courses in CT! For the money you can't get any better.
I have tried to play here a few times and am always met with resistance and ride customer service that is arrogant, pompous, indignant and attitudes like they work for Agusta National. You couldn't pay me enough to play this course b
This place compares to private clubs for a lot less money! Bring extra balls as water abounds! Cafe on the Green is awesome too!
We take our 9-yr. old beagle here on the trail all the time. He just loves it. It is a very nice trail and not too long. You can see the golf course from all parts of it. In the fall, the colors are spectacular. My kids also go sledding here in the winter. The restaurant (Cafe on the Green) is also outstanding - great food and not too pricey. The main dining room also has a fantastic view of the course.
Located near Danbury. A very challenging track. Amenities are average, but the golf is great. For residents outside of Danbury, there are limitations on tee times. However, advance reservations can be made.
This is danburys best gold course and an Icon of public courses in the US. For residents its an incredibly affordable round of golf. For non residents it gets pricey. Check tod Internet specials. The course itself its so much fun and in the fall the changing colors kn the trees is breath taking. Great round of golf with the boys or with other couples.
